You don't rate Kayne Pettifer or Mark Coughlan? Shame on you!

Chris Newman and Chris Hyde both turned out decent players too, Richmond did really well out of this draft!

A good player, a very good player, and two great players!

But you rate all your players. You think you have a great list. Guess what...you are one eyed. Nothing wrong with that, but just understand that nobody other than you thinks highly of all the duds you list. This is why you will not be playing finals this year. Or next. You have a weak list. You think it's great. Fine, but it isn't.

If I had draft them today, I'd do it in this order

1: Kerr
2: Reiwoldt

There isn't a coach or list manager in the AFL who would agree with you. Riewoldt would go first every time and rightly so. He is clearly the best of that draft and dominates the most important position on the ground to go with it.

Fair enough, but our list isn't bad. Pettifer was in the top 10 for inside 50's in the league wasn't he? And Cogs was labelled as an "elite midfielder" by several commentators (not that they know much..) before doing his knee. 38 possies, 35 possies... I am not the only one who rates him.

Chris Newman has played for the greatest Australian team ever in history and obviously has talent.

Chris Hyde is the weak one and isn't in our best 22, but the other 3 would get onto anyone's list and play a game at some point.

Petttifer was ranked 2nd for inside 50s per game, 10th for marks per game, and 20th for total kicks in the AFL. 22 games 31 goals 22 behinds. Very underrated, but certainly not top 10 in this draft. Coughlan alot closer.

Cross isn't there yet and Johncock is a run of the mill backman. Benny, I would have rated the Richmond players as to their performances had they had been in the poll. They aren't.

But Cross has done more than Kosi but you rate him as a elite.

And i severely disagree with your judgement on Johncock. Wont put up an argument because someone else will do it for me. ;)

Kosi has won a rising star medal, and basically if it wasn't for injuries he would be the best if not one of the best KPP in the league. Watch some of his games from last year, the guy's a freak. Cross hasn't been plagued with injuries, of his games he's been good, not great.

I rank Johncock's career as much as say Milburn. Solid players, nothing great. All of the players I listed as stars have been alot better.

No doubt its Riewoldt, forwards of that talent are so hard to find. Clubs will give up an arm and a leg to have a player like Riewoldt, just like what the crows offered freo a few years back to lure Pavlich. As a Crows fan its great to see stiffy johncock rated in that group as he was a pick in the 60s!! great find there

... and yet teams with great midfields continue to win premierships.

The fact is St Kildas list is regarded highly because they have so many big name talls/forwards and yet it has done them little good. My question is would St Kilda have done better without Hamill and Riewoldt and with say Kerr & Judd?

There midfield would then have Ball, Judd, Kerr, Hayes, Dal Santo, Harvey etc - they would still have Gehrig, Kosi and whoever else.

The key is balance and the balance these days is weighted towards runners. Maybe a star midfielder is as important as a star forward. I mean would you take Riewoldt or Judd?

.... and Kerr isnt that far behind Judd.

Just a thought.

Continue? You mean "a team with a great midfield and crap forwards won a premiership."

Kangas 1999 - Carey
Essendon 2000 - Lloyd
Brisbane 2001/2002/2003 - Brown, Lynch
Port 2004 - Tredrea
Sydney 2005 - Hall

Kane Cornes was an All-Australian, you guys know that yeah?

How can Burgoyne only have 4 votes?, i know he is not the best out of that list but i thought he would of had more than 4 votes and the same as cross only has 3

Good poll. Has to be Riewoldt or Kerr. I voted Riewoldt but was very even. Would have thought Shaun Burgoyne would have more than 3 though but he has only really had 1 breakaway year in 06.
