on paper, surely this has to be the best kiwi side to tour here.

aussies may find it a real challenge.

in the touring party of 15, they are all experienced and aged 27 or older.

latham (44)
raval (32)
williamson (53/41)
taylor (47)
nicholls (43)
watling (41)
de grandhomme (40/30)
santner (28/39)
southee (18/30)
boult (15/28)
wagner (12/27)

blundell
astle
henry
ferguson

i'm assuming that's the XI providing all are fit.

6 of the top 7 averaging 40+
3 quality quicks
an allrounder with 40/30 - unheard of
raval plays as blundell is the only reserve bat/keeper in the squad
santner if anything the weak link - could henry or ferguson play in perth ?

Ferguson should probably play over Santner. He will be a non-factor with his innocuous left arm orthodox.

Yeah I came to just post this, it's the most balanced best kiwi side I've seen in my lifetime. We're very strong at home though so it should be a very good series, I'm thinking 1-1 and a draw or Australia may just edge it.

Any bowling attack with Hadlee is the best.

hadlee had some handy bowlers around him at times, but nothing world class.
if he had of had shane bond with him, well then they would've been a handful.

surely the attack of boult, southee, wagner, de grandhomme + 1 is arguably their best attack ever assembled.

Hadlee could win series on his own - & did. Remains to be seen what current lot can do.

Well if you are looking at the best combined Kiwi side, maybe something like:

1. Dempster (There is an obscure first one for you) / Latham
2. Turner
3. Williamson
4. Crowe
5. Taylor
6. McCullum
7. Watling
8. Hadlee (c)
9. Vettori
10. Bond
11. Boult/Wagner

12. Southee

So you've got 7 of the current squad in the discussion for best ever NZ test side, without a doubt the best side to ever tour from NZ.

had you not made hadlee captain i'd have given you a like.:)

Richardson
Sinclair
Fleming
Astle
McMillan
Oram
McCullum
Vettori
Cairns
Bond
Martin

Surely an early-mid 2000s NZ team would wipe the floor with them regardless of stats on paper.
Richardson, Sinclair & Martin wouldn't get a look in if NZ were full strength.

Richardson might, but only because Raval is in such horrendous form.

I liked this team. Hard not to appreciate them too. Were tremendous particularly in the shorter form. Especially given who they were up against too...

The bar must be set very, very low if this is the best...

Clearly their bowling attack - which was missing its best member and lost its fastest - is decent (aside from Santner at least).
Williamson and Taylor are obviously very very good batsmen. Raval is rubbish - and using the official Big Footy Metric that your most recent performance defines your entire career I guess the rest of them are too

People forget that McCullum was a very average batsman for the first half of his career. When he started giving up the gloves around 2011 he flourished.

Watling averages 41 whilst keeping.

Good side this but as I said earlier there bats need to fire to stand a chance sont think there bowling is good enough to form an advantage over Australia on home soil

I think it’s good enough if boult is there to go close.
They have to get runs out of latham, Nicholls and Watling to compete.
Taylor has already played one good knock and you’d think Williamson will fire at some stage. At least 2 centuries needed from the other 3 at some stage.
