Who are our best left foot players of all time in your opinion?

I feel we have fewer than a lot of clubs?

1- Polly Farmer
2- Jez Cameron
3- Harry Taylor
4- Cameron Ling
5- Peter Riccardi
6- J Pod
7- Ronnie Burns

Buddha

Never missed a left kick even though he was right footed lol

Top 5

1. Paul Couch
2. Peter Riccardi
3. David Clarke Snr
4. Polly Farmer
5. Jeremy Cameron

The best left-footed kick I have ever seen was Josh Hunt. The guy had his limitations as a footballer, but re-defined what you could do with delivery out of the back half. He was basically Matt Suckling before Matt Suckling.

I was going for best players, but just an open left footers chat is great.
I like your list.

Not old enough to have seen Polly Farmer play but hard to go past him for the best player.

It's funny, when I think of Ling I don't immediately think left-footer, but you're right and he was one of the club's best players and captains.

Paul Couch was such a dominant leftie. Loved the way he played the game.

Harry Taylor and Peter Riccardi, two club greats.

Yeah I totally overlooked Couch. Lingy had a very front on style for a left footer didn’t have that classical grace of a left footer who kicks around the corner slightly.

In terms of left foot kicking only :
Josh Hunt
Ben Graham
Paul Couch
Polly
Michael Mansfield
Jezza

LOL he was so unsmoothly non-athletic he looked like was always kicking on his non-preferred. :winkv1:

Josh Hunt was indeed very good too. I recall him taking on some ridiculously risky kicks out of D50 and pulling them off.

The combination of that and Wojo's run made for a potent weapon

A great kick somehow though, always hit targets and a nice set shot as well. One of my all time favourites!
oh yeah, did he even bend his knees at all when he kicked. :laughv1: Actually he was my favorite player from that team. Only thing flashy about him was his hair. Slow but somehow kept up with target for the day. :thumbsu:

I still think he was the best kick on his opposite foot I've ever seen.

From any club too. Ablett senior for distance on his left foot, but for precision Hocking.
Greg Williams was pretty good on the left too, but I don’t think he could kick quite as far as Buddha. There’s that one Buddha kicked on the run from about 55 on his left in the 89 prelim, handball from Couchy, amazing really.

Blicavs is weirdly capable of hitting flawless flat bullet passes with his non-dominant left foot that he can't hit with his dominant right foot. He also shanks it a fair bit with his left too, so he's kind of "feast or famine" when he goes off his non-preferred, but yeah, he's an odd case. If someone were to compile a career highlights reel of Blitz's best field kicks I feel like a lot of them would be left-foot passes.

Not Geelong but Leon Cameron was beautiful either side of the body

Saw Hunt and Chappy warming up together at a training session.
They were 30 metres apart and were kicking low , chest level bullets to each other.
They never had to move when marking the ball and when they kicked they had the kicking leg off the ground and just punched the kick.
Incredible leg strength.

Josh hunt delivered a 60m flat pass one day... it might have even been at GWS - but it was a ridiculous kick.

Mansfield particularly later on his career tended to always kick the ball way too high I thought.

Spot on.
Whenever Mansfield had to kick it more than 40m he’d pull out the pitching wedge and kick it higher than ground covered.

Best natural lefties I’ve seen:
Hunt
Riccardi
Couch
Graham
Cameron

Best right footers who could kick comfortably on their left:
Buddha
Ablett snr
Humphries
