How can you say ever? Did you ever see Regan play on Pratt? Did you see Nicholls play against Farmer? I never did but I'm sure that they were every bit as good as the Carey/Jacovich match up. Back in '85 when Hawkins took on Dipierdomenico in a couple of finals. That was a great match up.

It probably is the best match up of recent times but I don't know if you could say ever. I actually did go to a North vs WC game at the MCG just to watch Carey vs Jakovich and I don't even barrack for any of those teams. It was a one sided game though with WC winning easily.

If your talking individual games, you can't go past the legendary Van Der Haar/Knights match up at Windy Hill in 1978. They went hammer and tongs, speckie for speckie all day (so I'm told).

What about the Carey v Leppitsch duel at Colonial last year? Wayne put five on the board in a match winning performance, then Leppa responded with 4 of his own from CHB!

This game was one of my earliest memories of footy at Windy Hill. I have highlights of this game on tape. Knights probably had the better of Vanda that day (the Hawks also beat us). But the sight of these two stars jumping over eachother all day was brilliant to watch.

That was an unbelivable match that one. i have part of that match on a tape called 'the vault'.
Anyway, overall, Farmer v Nicholls was the best i ever saw. two great ruckman going at it against each other.
