Tramp for some deep tunes, will be hard pressed getting in with just guys. Cloud Nine, basically has everything you need but the crowd is a bit dodgy. Korova, haven't been in a while but its more of a minimal/techno vibe. Wah Wah, probably a mixture of Tramp/Cloud and so I feel its the best. Billboards, a new night is opening up next week but I would assume it won't be much different with fairly mainstream shit. Anyway, have never been not really my scene seems like a fairly mainstream/trance night but that could be totally wrong. Nightcrawler is back this week or next at Levels? Rats aswell but I've never been. Same with Revs but I have only heard good things about it from people I know that go there often.

There really needs to be a multi-level Heavy Metal Emporium in the CBD, with each level increasing in intensity. First level hard rock. Second level industrial metal. Third New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Fourth thrash. Fifth death metal. Sixth black metal. Live examples (local acts only) of every kind of band playing on each floor. Strippers, maybe even hookers on the seventh floor. Eighth floor would be a cinema showing uncut, uncensored horror movies. Ninth floor a rooftop bar and another stage (international acts) with red spotlights and a smoke machine pissing out hellish smoke everywhere.

Nine floors. The nine circles of Hell.

If I had a wad of cash I would do this. Please, someone give me a wad of cash and let me do this.
I like the cut of your jib

Love the idea.

Would be hilarious though if the final floor was a colourful flower garden with satin curtains and Hello Kitty everywhere and a bar serving nothing but margaritas and fizzy drinks with nothing but Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber playing.

With a camera at the entrance to record every metalhead's reaction to such a montrosity.

What's your scene? Revs is my favourite on a Saturday
This is really it, plus you can go to some cesspit before, lament the scene and then take off to Prahran at 12:30, 1 and have a good time at Revs. That's probably the best way. Before that, maybe Wah? That joint seems to be okay before 2 but it is full of pretty trashy women. Alright ratio though.

Actually, I think going out is a bit like girls. At 18 you're full of excitement and you probably make some stupid decisions and think the wrong thing's cool. You think you'll have it all sussed out by 20 but really you just keep on some kind of expedition, never really knowing for certain. I guess finding places to go that you really enjoy is a big part of it.

Bump.

Clubbing for the first time next weekend with mates. Suggestions?
Billboards would be ideal, most people would be around your age. Go nuts.

Put girls as #1 preference for the night and they'll smell it a mile off. So put 'em #2. ;) Other than that you'll figure it all out. Dress to your strengths as well. You'll see girls with little up-top show mid-section, etc. Enjoy bud

This whole last page makes me realise just how shit clubbing is in Melbourne.
It was shit 8 years ago, it was shit 4 years ago and it aint much better now. No one comes up with any new ideas.
Same recycled crap.
And FFS dont send the lad to Boards on their last night.

I hope you're planning on doing it properly, with the first floor at basement level and then travelling downstairs to each subsequent floor. None of this namby-pamby "upstairs" baloney

People complain about how banal or uninspired Melbourne's nightlife is, but when you get away you do miss it. There's plenty of options for plenty of demographics, and the good thing is that most venues for each of those fractures can be chockers at least once or twice a week. Perth's a nice place and has even more potential, but it's biggest issue is getting in and out of Northbridge: comparatively, less people live near the good places to go out, so it's always such a serious hassle to have a night out (without spending $100 at the least).

Just seeing Nosaj's in town and it not being a huge deal makes me realise how cool of a place it is, if you actually look around.

People who complain are just oblivious or just getting on a bit. There are at least 2 - 3 good internationals playing every week in Melbourne and our venues are world class. If anything the scene here has picked up considerably in the past couple of years. I left to live in Berlin when I think it was at it's worst point and I came back here thinking I would never go out again but that was not the case at all. Melbourne is very comparable to Berlin and has been drawing some of the best artists here lately. Our scene is big and reputable overseas, to say otherwise you must be hitting up the wrong places.

Your post kind of hints at it, but I think the people who complain about nightlife anywhere are those that don't like and/or aren't willing to explore beyond the world of EDM. There's plenty of good places to have a good night all over Australia in all states, but sometimes it takes venturing beyond the traditional clubbing scene and trying something new to find it.

EDM has an absolutely woeful scene that has no culture at all. It is pop electronic and is targeted at 14 year old girls who lack any kind of genuine taste in music. Super clubs are dead in Australia as well and the ones in Europe do not play EDM.

Well if not electronic dance music of some form, what sort of music were you referring to in your previous post then?
