RJ, this must be your 967th Brock McLean insecurity-talk-up-poll. It's like a festering wound that never heals with you. Just hilarious. :)

haha strewth i completely forgot about lance, and instead looked at the PSD picks that year, which was paul koulouritis.

Easy mistake to make on two reasons, firstly that Geelong have a history of drafting duds at around the pick 5 mark, and secondly because Franklin is completely forgettable.

If people want to vote for Lance, just vote for Koulouritis instead, we'll tally the results at the end.

And as IF Franklin has done even a skerrick of what Brock has done, sh*t, I should murder you for that comment (and may very well do so).

This is one of my favourite RJ-shoots-himself-in-the-foot-posts. Franklin has approximately 23x the talent of McLean. Another little Brock talkup-poll bites the dust. It just gets better. Huge laughes. :)

Hey, RJ, didn't Franklin single-handedly destroy the Dees a few weeks ago? Remember that? He made your defence looked like a complete and utter basket-case. Damn, this little Brock talkup thread ain't going well. Oh well. :)

Yeah, but Mclean's the better fooballer.

Going by your theory, Marcelo Rios was a better player than Pete Sampras, Mark Philippoussis was better than Lleyton Hewitt, Damien Cupido was better than Robert Harvey, it doesn't work that way.

Besides, 80% of Franklin's goals have come against bottom 8 sides, almost 50% have been against basketcases Carlton and Richmond.

That's simply not true.

You are deluded.

Brock is head and shoulders above the rest.

Should have included Franklin rj. I find the Lance love-in highly amusing. He cant take a mark, is softer than butter, is terrible below the knees and looks plain awkward when chasing the ball. Hawk supporters should name him Bambi not Buddy.

Given time, it will be between Pendlebury and Franklin - The two best talents drafted at #5 over the years.

McLean is in front at the moment though.

If you want to base the decision on talent, McDoodle will be a contender easily. Some said pre-draft that he had just as much talent as Riewoldt.

The fact that he hasnt gone on with it is another issue. But the best on perfermance? Brock.

What do you think about Travis Boak Vinnie? Got a chance?

Be interested to hear your thoughts since you're such a critique of young talent it seems.

Absolutely hilarious that posters are predicting who will be better, obviously dismissing that Brock will get better. Brock will become clearance king of the AFL if he isn't already. He's is a long way ahead of the rest, Franklin second.

Wasn't Luke Power a #5 pick?
1997.

I liked Boak pre-draft - Had him inside the Top 10.

His biggest problem is that theoretically, he could be a complete flop - And before I get crucified for this, let me explain:

When a player has a particular standout skill, you know that in the end, he will at least be able to fall back on that.

With Brendon Goddard and Luke Hodge, before they began to improve their ability to find the ball through the midfield, they were able to at least rely on their incredible kicking to be effective in the back half.

Likewise, with someone like Josh Fraser, although he hasn't turned out to be a fantastic tap-ruckman in terms of winning hit-outs, he has incredible mobility for a guy his size, which means that as a follower he is able to beat any ruckman in the league.

However, with Boak, he sort of needs it all to come together, because while he has decent pace, decent skills, reasonable attack at the ball and average height, but nothing eye-popping that would ensure that he'll find some niche to definitely stick around in the league.

That's not to say he won't put it together, as I think he's got a good chance to.
