Agreed. Great talent.Cazale is arguably one of the biggest losses to Hollywood in the last 50 years.
Pretty much stole the show in just about every performance he gave in film, in some of the greatest movies of all time sharing scenes with some of the greatest actors of all time.
Would of gone down as good as De Niro or Pacino imo. I’d argue he had more in his locker than those two as well, which is saying something when it comes to De Niro.
He’s one of the most talented actors in history.
Green Book really is a great film - for some reason I just love when they are eating fried chicken in the car
'What do we do with the bones?'
Lip: 'We do dis" - and just chucks the bones out the window as they are driving along![]()
I love Casey Affleck in Manchester by the Sea. Never seen trauma articulated with such accuracy. It’s so often overdramatised.
The great back story to that is that Matt Damon gave up the opportunity to star in it as the main role.
He was the producer of Manchester by the Sea and thought he was slightly "too famous" for it and would have detracted from the story, despite being a slam dunk Oscar winning part (Damon has never won an Oscar for acting and it would have been one of his best opportunities - his only Oscar is for screenwriting with Ben Affleck for Good Will Hunting).
So he gave it to long term friend Casey Affleck.
Has been mentioned by many critics as one of the best, most selfless casting decisions in recent movie history.

Interestingly if you try to picture Matt as the lead in that movie I don't think he would have been able to do it to the way Casey did.. and that does make me question if its because of Damon's fame or just how he is as an actor. He suits various roles quite well - thought he was tops in Ford v Ferarri recently, but this type of broken man type role doesn't seem like his type.
On the subject of broken movies and the Afflecks, I thought Ben was very good in 'The Way Back' on netflix just recently.
