I am going to the game at the SCG on 2nd July and am looking for advice on where to sit. The ticket site says that the allocation for opposition supporters is exhausted but it seems I can still book a seat in other parts of the ground. Does anyone have suggestions about which is the best grandstand to sit in. I haven't been to the SCG since 2002. Thanks in advance for any replies.

I haven't actually been to the SCG (however my parents are going to the same game), but from what I gather the block that I've 'highlighted' at the bottom would be middle tier and pretty close to centre wing. Will likely cost $80 for a regular adult ticket, but I figure that if you're paying your way over to Sydney, what's (presumably) $160? :p

I doubt that you'll get to choose particularly specifically, and no doubt someone will know more about the ground than me.

I'm going too but have been holding off from buying tickets in case they release more tickets in opposition supporter section closer to the game. I'd say a safe bet is somewhere on the wings, or the platinum seats of the Victor Trumper Stand and premium gold seats of the Bradman Stand. Both of these stands are new, so facilities should be adequate as well.

How much are you prepared to spend?? Assuming you dont want to pay Platinum and Premium gold seats

Of the gold tickets bay 5 or 5a in The Messenger Stand (where diagram says scoreboard) up the back of the bay are pretty good seats as are bay 10 in front of the O'Reilly stand and 11 and 12 in front of Victor Trumper stand.

If you are prepared to pay the top dollar, the O'Reilly stand has the best seats in Oz to watch a game in the first few rows. 10-12m back from the fence and elevated about 3-4m above the ground.

Thanks for the info.

Given that my travel and accommodation costs will be zero (paid for by my employer), I can probably afford to spend a bit more on the game ticket.

Ok if you like to sit on the wing more that the flank and cost isnt an issue then choice of stands would be
1. O'Reilly
2. Brewongle
3. Churchill
4. Victor Trumper stand front half. Its a long way back at the top of the stand.

Forgot to say Bay 28 in front of the Churchill stand is a pretty good Gold bay. I had season tickets for bay 31 at the back about 20 years ago and they were great but they have improved as they have increased the banking of ground level bays on that side of the ground about 8 years ago.

SCG is the only ground I've been to that has a DOOR into the toilets. So as you're leaving you're at serious risk of getting a broken nose and a black eye from someone barging their way in as they try to avoid pissing their pants.
