Travel Best places in Victoria to visit?

It's that time of year I think... the weather is crap, we don't have any long weekends for a while, and it's time to escape the grind, and to escape Melbourne for 4 or 5 days. I'm not a great flyer - certainly not good enough that I'm getting on a plane to SE Asia for 5 days - but I do love driving. So I'm just looking for somewhere to go for a week, see some scenery, maybe visit a beach, probably drink some regional beer and/or wine.

I'm curious to hear about people's favourite destinations in Victoria. I've only lived in Melbourne for about 4 years, and in that time I've spent some time around Ballarat, Bendigo and Inverloch/Phillip Island - where else is worth checking out?

I don't really care about the weather that much - it doesn't keep me from spending time at the beach or anything. I just like to be able to escape the grind and do something different for a week in a location that I can drive to.

Suggestions?

+1 for Great Ocean Road to the 12 Apostles. I went 18 months ago and loved it. Shell out for the helicopter flight too. Well worth it.

Also Frankston Pier is great too, be sure to take a bath in the Kannanook Springs.

Wilsons Prom or if you really like driving Mildura and then Broken Hill (not in Vicotria) but will give you desert and interesting architecture

Milawa is a nice place to stop on the way to Beechworth. Brown Brothers winery and a nice cheese factory

Mount Buffalo is nice in summer and winter too bit of fishing in the rivers up there isnt bad either

Lorne, Daylesford Halls Gap. Wineries head North to Yarra Glen. Murray is good but drought has meant flow is low at this point. Really depends what you enjoy.

Milawa used to have an awesome pizza/pasta place opposite the pub but I think it is gone now

Renmark is also worth a visit. Went through there on my sydney -> Perth drive early last year. Really nice town. Nice harbour in Mildura

kyneton mt macedon woodend etc is a good day trip from melbourne - particularly in autumn early winter when you can see the autumn leaves.

Towns along the murray river might be worth a vist.

Halls Gap/Grampians is a great place. Not too big of a drive from suburbs.

Wilson Prom I want to get back to, haven't been since grade 6 camp (20+ years)

Even just day trips, Murrindindi region is good for walks/nature/views etc
