Didn't hear it personally but apparently Nathan Burke gave his opinion on SEN on who the best player was for each jumper number. A few dogs supporters are cranky he didn't rate Cooney best no. 17.
Did a bit of research and interested in people's opinions on who you think are the best in each number.

Here's my list based on Bulldog players ( some you would not have heard of obviously)
What do you think? Have I left anyone out

1 – Tredrea/Hall – Farren not in the contest
2 -Murphy/Roughead on 2008 form hard to split
3 Bartel no contest
4 Cross ahead of Didak and Kerr on 2008 form but Kerr has runs on the board overall
5 - Sam Mitchell over Boyd comfortably ( not an insult to Boyd – I rate him ) and Judd’s a fair player too
6 – Johnno is the one
7 – tough competition – Hayes/Burgoyne/Simpson/Medhurst 2008 only all good but Westy overall career ( but hardly played this year so fair enough)
8 Shaun Burgoyne then Hahn/Hudghton
9 -Gilbee vs Crawford, J Kelly and Edwards tough call
10 – Eagle not in the contest- McVeigh/Pendlebury/Bateman – not a great number
11 – Streeter LOL – Joel Corey and daylight
12 – Richo wins over Reiwoldt, Sewell, Tommy hasn’t played
13 Gia not far off – who’s better Jordie? Oh of course Dale Wonder Boy Thomas
14 Joel Selwood at the moment – Callan Ward has to play first
15 – Luke Hodge edges out Hudson comfortably
16 Jonathan Brown beats Griff comfortably ATM
17 in 08 Cooney miles ahead of K Johnson and Kennelly –Burns a joke in 08
18 Kane Cornes wins Stack in VFL
19 OLoughlin and charman beat Higgins
20 Tough one – Cox and Black just beat S Johnson – Hill on his way but out of league
21 Aker not far off – Corey Jones, Mooney ( not this year but last year), Leo Barry – fading?
22 – not a lot of greats in this number – who did he pick? Dylan a bit early but who else is there? Mal Michael, Rhyce Shaw?
23 – Lance Franklin/McLeod not to mention Glass, N Thompson ( good number ) What about Doogs? Ha
24 – Brett Burton a bit better than Jarrad Grant
25 -Shaggy – doubtful – Fevola/Lucas v Rutten is a tough battle
26 - Sam Reid vs Dal Santo – not yet
27 – A bunch of battlers with Will- Stokes probably has the best form
28 – Welsh v a bunch of battlers probably wins over Thurstans
29 – great trio Ablett, Pavlich and Harvey just over Easton Wood
30 –Scarlett over O’Keefe
31 - Kirk/Fletcher over ?
32 – Jarrad Boumann not quite ready for T Cloke
33 - Tim Callan’s 6 games not quite ready to go against J Farmer (career) M Rooke, B Reilly and a buch of not quite stars
34 W Skipper has to actually play to beat J White and he gave the free away to him in 05!!
35 -Tiller not quite up there with Chad Cornes yet
36 – Lake in the hunt against Goodwin/Bradshaw but you’d have to go with Goodwin on career
37 – Cam Wight not in Goodes league yet
38 – Dale wins comfortably
39 – Milburn over M Lynch
40 – Harbrow not quite Wojinski/Porplyzia
41 – Nathan Foley wins over ?
42 – Boydy shouldn’t have changed his number – not a lot of players here- Bevan
43 Roger Hayden
44 – Bock over O’Shea
45 – Lingy
46 – Jake King

I know of them, and the fact you participated in one, yet mock others for speaking as if they know the player is highly ironic.

Do you want to explain how that is ironic, cos i'm not following.

9 - Gilbee vs Crawford, J Kelly and Edwards tough call

you have to be kidding me. Crawford is a champion - brownlow medalist, MVP, SoO player, 4 time all australian, 3 time international rules rep, 4 time hawthorn best and fairest.

Should be one of the easiest decisions on the list...until you throw Neitz into the equation

also, you base some choices on 2008 form and others on career form why?

Great list ^^^^

Like the combination of form and career to determine player.

Lol, when I first saw this thread I thought Ablett was a shoe-in for 29#. Why is there 3 elite players wearing that obscure number...?
