POTY

5. Ricciuto - the skipper was back in full glory tonight. did well up forward and picked up kicks at will around the ground. Great to see him moving freely at last!!

4. Hentschel - 8 goals speaks for itself and a wide range of types of goals speaks wonders for Hentschel's natural talent. We were right, eh, Stiffy?? :thumbsu:

3. McGregor - answered his critics of recent weeks, with a terrific return to top form. Easily the best contested mark in the side, and along with Hentschel gave us two classy tall options up forward.

2. Reilly - has matured oh so well this year, and his game early when there was heat on, was terrific. Work-rate second to nobody and diposal very very good. Coming along very nicely indeed thank you.

1. Goodwin - gave it to him out of about 6 others, as he wore a heavy tag all game but still did more than his share. Having a memorable year.

Best Team Man

3. Bassett - stiff not to be in the best players and put his body on the line many times. Embarrassed the opposition with that burst through 2 tackles and passing spot on to Roo's chest.

2. van Berlo - playing like a veteran in his mid-field tagging role. Tough as tungsten and totaly fearless. Great game.

1. Doughty - of the young variety!! :) Has become a valuable member of our rotations and his work rate was terrific.

Rookie

2. van Berlo - see above. How good is this lad going to be!! Scary!!

1. Maric - good handy game and certainly not looking out of place in only his 2nd game. Will just get better and better.

Wouldn't want to miss out on a clear BOG but there were so many awesome contributions:

POTY
5 - Trent Hentschel - deadly accurate and a career high eight goals
4 - Mark Ricciuto - 31 touches and 3 goals from the skipper
3 - Ken McGregor - don't you just love that they've all been forwards so far?! Please keep this form up Kenny. Looked on top of his game tonight.
2 - Brent Reilly - one of his finest games. Starting to look like he has a long career ahead of him, hopefully all at the Crows.
1 - Simon Goodwin - fantastic through traffic in the middle

Unlucky: Bassett, Van Berlo, McLeod, Thompson, Burton, Doughty

BTM
3 - Nathan Van Berlo - this kid epitomises courage
2 - Nathan Basset - great run off the back line. Loved his run up the guts when he broke three tackles without losing stride and put it on Roo's chest
1 - Scott Thompson - hard work around the stoppages with reasonably limited game time

Rookie
2 - Nathan Van Berlo - I'd give him more votes if I could!
1 - Ivan Maric - just edges Knighta. Some great tap work and excellent attack on the ball

I haven't seen the replay or even looked at others opinions.
This is my opinion of the game after getting quite :D:D:D:Ded in a corporate box tonight. (probably missed half the game).
POTY
5, Hentshell , turns on a ten cent piece and grows in confidence with every touch (even got better after one of the essendon blokes tried to rough him up:thumbsu: )
4, McLeod, Don't really know if he did that much other than when the crowd was going off? but the stuff i saw was inspiring (i hope we can keep the contract negotiations going for another 6 years!) without yet seeing the replay-- mark of the year?????
3, Roo, just don't frick with this bloke!
2, Stiffy, run run run as fast as you can you cant catch me i'm the play maker man.
1, Dogga, I take it all back (every word) i apologize (sincerely) everything I ever said prior to this season was wrong. your a player alright.

BTM
Basset, Mr cool.
Reilly, Mr smooth.
Hentshell, Mr get out of my way!! (about fricken time)
Rookie
Maric, wasn't great around the ground (but better than Doc been lately) but about 5 taps were centimetre perfect.
Count, Mr match payments.:thumbsu:

Still think Steven King vs. Sydney and Kayne Pettifer vs. us has him covered. But we're getting closer each week with Burton last week and Macca tonight. :p

At least Johncock held his! I still preferred Macca's. Anyway, proceed with the voting... :D

This is MY interpretation of the votes this week......if that's ok

POTY

5 - Mark Ricciuto - looked as free as he has all year - A few classic fends - some Essendon defenders took some short steps last night I thought.

4 - Trentschell - 8 goals is a handy return for a third tall - and even better when he was really playing as the main tall....well done Trent.

3 - Graham Johncock - Hoover was very tidy once again

2 - Ken McGregor - competed very well - 13 marks !!! - the OP seems to have cleared up during the week...:o :p

1 - Scott Stevens - the reality is that all of these votes could have gone to any number of players but I'll recognise Scott Stevens for staying away from contested aerial ball - and playing to his strengths by running hard and creating space. Created some good "out" options coming up the ground..:thumbsu:

apols to the rest

BTM

3 - Ken McGregor - moved around a lot last night - kept the fwd line very fluid.
2 - Nathan Bassett - his release from FB has been career defining
1 - Nathan Van Berlo - BEWARE !!! - The Count is developing a swagger ....  ..- be afraid .... be very afraid !

ROTY

2 - Nathan Van Berlo
1 - Ivan Maric

5) Trent H. Super game, 8 straight possibly impressed me the most, was so accurate it almost hurt. Also 8 goals from 4 marks is very impressive.
4) Kenny Mac, was great up front tonight. Was a bit concerned about a couple of his goals, kicks seemed to be terrible but still went through.
3) Roo. Was actually kinda surprised to see that he had 31 touches. As only Roo can do he seems to rack em up without me even noticing. Loved his don't argue on some poor bomber although felt his disposal was slightly off.
2) Reilly, electric in the first quarter, really did some damage. Think had about 8 or 9 touches in the first alone. Disposal was perfect, would be surprised if he had a clanger all night.
1) Goodwin. Had a good game without being super mega outstanding.

Sorry to everyone else.

BTM:
3) Scotty T
2) Kenny Mac
1) VB

Rookie:
2) VB without a doubt, was very impressed with him tonight. Some of his pack work, toughness, disposal and marking. Did everything I could ask for and more. Would love to see him play almost a full game, would also like to know what his game time was last night.
1) Maric. Very happy, should hopefully keep his spot next week. Seemed a bit lost tapping at first but there was a couple in the last term that were perfect, straight down a Crows throat and straight down to the forward 50. 17 hitouts was a good return, only 5 less than Biglands in much less gametime. Around the ground was good and was very happy with what he did, nice mark at one stage for an intercept.

Thought Knights did well too, showed signs which is all I want at his stage. Still think he needs to trust in himself a bit more and take a player on rather than a 1m handball. Great goal, hopefully there are others to be dropped for Torney's return before him.

Yep. Very astute observation. My only criticism of Knights game at the moment is the opposite to what normally applies - he's trying to be too much of a team player and is playing within self-imposed tight boundaries.

All he has to do is to trust himself a bit more, as you've said, and IMO he'll cut loose!! :thumbsu:

I think he just needs another 3 or 4 games without being dropped and a reasonable amount of gametime. He gets better each game he plays and if he gets a block I think it could do more for his development and confidence than a year in the SANFL.

Player of the Year

5. Mark Ricciuto -
Welcome back!!!!!!

4. Trent Hentschel - A tall forward just shouldn't kick those freaky type of goals BUT he CAN

3. Brent Reilly - His first half was brilliant. Really coming of age

2. Ken McGregor - Loves playing Essendon. Great game by Kenny and he did kick the record breaking goal with 3 seconds to spare LD

1. Simon Goodwin - He was HEAVILY tagger but still got the better of his opponent

Honourable Mentions: Stevens, Doughty, Van Berlo, Burton, McLeod, Johncock, Bassett and just about everyone else :D

Best Team Man

3. Michael Doughty -
Inspirational

2. Nathan Bassett - See Dogga

1. Brett Burton - See Freddy

Rookie

2. Nathan Van Berlo -
He is groing in stature. He will be a player

1. Ivan Maric - Still a lot of work to do but great second game :thumbsu:

POTY:

5) Ricciuto - BRILLIANT, sensational game from the skipper, never stopped all night, and his fend offs were a pleasure to watch ROOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

4) Hentschell - :D:D:D:D ME @ that one from Trent! 8 straight, kicked some insane goals, this bloke is extremely intelligent. Contested marking was exceptional.

3) McGregor - Another tall who destroyed in the air and finished off in front of goal. Fantastic game one of his best. Too big, too strong

2) Reilly - Drooooooool! Very classy game all night, especially early his centre breaks and runs down the wing and forward delivery were scintilating.

1) Goodwin - Shook off the tags and still was a weapon out of the middle, really bustled hard tonight, crunching efforts in close, terrific hands, what about that backhand flip!

BTM:

3) Doughty - CHAMPION. That knock on running head on at two opponents at half back early on that set up a goal was as good as you will see. Attacked ball like it was a gold nugget and his life depended on it. Great link work, terrific.

2) Burton - Excellent game from the birdman, more courage and 2nd efforts. Ran his guts out for the side and thrashed McPhee.

1) Van Berlo - Oh boy, this guy is gunna be good. He will join the Goodwin/Edwards class when he is mature, he is very special and is improving every game. TACKLING  and vision were exceptional.

UNLUCKY Stevens - he was awesome tonight, I was laughing at one stage when he outbodied and outmarkd Lucas in 1st 1/4 and had some great intercepts and knock ons and used footy very well. 0 clanger count. Great game mate, keep it up.

Rookie:

2) VB - See above

1) Maric - Started slow but quickly out thought Hille and Laycock in the centre with some droolworthy taps in last term. Was solid around the ground and demands the footy. Clarke is gunna need to be earning his spot back IMO.

Now Knights - He tried but his decision making was poor tonight. Most of his possies resulted in turnovers, needs to sharpen up his quick gives and choice or target.

To use a well worn expression from my Under 11 coach
"All Played Well"!
But to narrow it down...

5 - Roo
4 - McGregor
3 - Hentschell
2 - Reilly
1 - Burton

5 - Ricciuto - I've been waiting all season for him to play a game like that - love it when he's on fire. Good to see him in the middle a bit.
4 - Hentschel - Yeah, can't really argue with an 8 goal return. I predicted a big game from him as I expected it to be wet. It didn't rain, but it was still slippery and Trent seems to lose his feet a lot less than most tall blokes. Great game.
3 - McGregor - Love seeing him hold on to those contested marks.
2 - Goodwin - Was heavily tagged, but still got a fair bit of it. Didn't dominate, but was still very very good.
1 - Reilly - Great game, particularly in the first quarter. Inside 50s were great tonight.

BTM
3 - Stevens - Never ever thought I'd be giving this man votes, but credit where credit is due. Great game. Outmuscled a couple of times in the 2nd, but overall he was brilliant in defence and worked very hard all night. Great game Steveo!
2 - Doughty - Courage
1 - Bassett - He's in brilliant form at the moment. Thought he deserved a mention.

Rookie
2 - VB - I love you, Nathan. Some beautiful kicks into attacking 50, and a couple of great grabs tonight. Loved that tricky backwards chest mark he took.
1 - Ivan - Solid effort from the big fella. Nice tap work late in the game, and had a few touches to go with it.
