Are we. It trying to get Smith Ablett and Stringer? Add Crameri to that..........there's not enough bait to get them all done.

No way is Crameri an option. No way.......the guys a spud

It and our picks will be enough to get it done IMO time will tell.

Not a Crameri fan either but if he costs pick 80 odd i don't care much.

Pick 80.......well if anyone knows trades it's you.

That's a big forward line ......too big.
Hawkins Buzza Stringer Crameri

Would be guessing two out of those four will be spending significant time in the VFL

Then again Scott does love his three talls

Personally can't see us getting Crameri...not too fussed either way as he'll more than likely be a back up player

We traded pick 92 for Black. I don't want Crameri but if it's min wage and a very late pick it's not a huge issue.

It might be early. But next year will see us contend. And seeing as crickey season began at 11.00pm last Friday night - here it is. All you hawk fans lurking. Read this and weep.

B: Zuthrie, Henderson, Bews
HB: Stewart, Taylor, Tuohy
C: Duncan, J Selwood, Menegola
HF: Motlop, Hawkins, Parfitt
FF: Cockatoo, Buzza, Stringer
R: Smith, Dangerfield, Ablett
IB: Guthrie, Blicavs, S Selwood, Kolo

Good team but McCarthy needs to fit forward somewhere. Maybe omit kolo.

But how's the team supposed to gel when we bring in 4 best 22 players every year? The team needs to be settled.
Im not worried about the amount of turnover. I'm worried about the quality of the turnover.

Crameri????

Crameri was probably a target until stringer said he wanted in.

I cant believe the blue sky hype about Buzza

Played rugby league till he was 15 then converted to Aussie Rules - suffers from lazy eye ( not having a go at him their - ive got glaucoma myself ) which cant help him

Is overhead marking is very suspect - in fact the best mark he has taken - the ball hit him on the head - and he caught it on the 2nd bite . You couldnt say at this stage he is a good kick - those shanks against Richmond

Couldnt care less about him crashing packs - big deal - and i wouldnt say he quick - in fact he is borderline slow

Yet he is being hyped up as best left footed CHF since Royce Hart

He has got along way to go to before coming a competant AFL Player

Too early to be guessing a complete 22, and when I start to jot names down on paper it becomes clear just how much we're lacking. Barely 2/3 of the team sheet is filled by genuinely good senior players or talented younger players.

Can't see us bringing in more than 2 good players from other clubs either... I guess we're banking on improvement from within and a better game plan. Either way we'll struggle for depth again I think.

Buzza has a long way to go but most key forwards drafted with late picks are delisted without ever playing a game so the fact that he played games in his 2nd year and showed some promise are good signs for his future.

Not sure removing Lang would be continuous improvement after how he looked against Sydney.

Depends on what we bring in if it's clear best 15 players then that's an upgrade.

I reckon some of our fringe players will go in this trade period.

I certainly can say that he's a good kick, his action is beautifully fluid and when it comes together it looks awesome. Once he's comfortable in an AFL environment he'll be a reliable shot for goal.

I also don't believe that a slow big guy would ever get 7 tackles in an AFL game, but pace doesn't worry me unduly considering how worthless it's been for Stanley.

I really hope we try to rebuild instead of the same thing year in year out.

B Bews Taylor Zuthrie
HB Stewart Henderson Tuohy
C Lang Duncan Thurlow
HF Cocky Buzza Ablett
F Motlop Hawkins McCarthy
R Smith Danger J Selwood
I Parfitt C Guthrie Gregson Simpson

I've gone small with a lot of outside run, more guys who are football players not athletes.

Buzza is in the side for his pressure and to give Smith a chop out. He is also a half decent kick at goal.
Kolo misses out on the 3rd tall defender role as Stewart is better.
No Scooter, Menegola or Blicavs, their disposal and decision making is all suspect and its time to move on, these guys are depth.
If Stanley is still on the list he is just backup for Smith.

Depth
Ruggles for a small defender
Kolo/Gardner for a tall defender or 3rd tall
Scooter and Menegola for the inside mids.
Stanley for Smith
Blicavs for Buzza (i know Blicavs isnt a forward but that would be his role if Buzza is out assuming we dont get Stringer/Crameri)
Other Smalls as outside mids or small forwards (not much depth here)

I dont want Stringer unless he is cheap, just because he doesnt fit my setup. If Stringer came in then Buzza wouldnt be in and Smith would need to ruck solo.

Has Scott been sacked?

That's not going to happen......he's obsessed with zone off footy

I dont think parfitt is a forward at all. Get 10 touches a game as a half forward wont help anyone. I would leave him in the vfl and play him pure mid there for at least the first few games next season. He is agile but not real quick so not suited as a pressure forward.

Cockatoo is another who needs to rotate through the midfield. He is quick with ball in hand so maybe best for him at hff flank so he can work up the wings as well.

Hawkins buzza and stringer is a good forward from a balance point of view as buzza can hopefully develop as a ruck to give a chop out. It also keeps stanley out of the team.

Still think we are missing a small specialist forward who can hit the scoreboard hard.

Also not a fan of menegola on the wing as his disposal is not good enough into the forward 50.

Guthrie is an interesting one. Soft as butter but has talent. The difference between us bombing out in the finals and a flag is someone like him stepping up to a grade level. If he does i would move him to the back flank with 5 min burst through the middle here and there.

Backline is good. Only see tuohy as a weakness but perhaps he can be played on the wing at times

That looks mighty good. I like how you are predicting Devon Smith will need to prove himself in ressies first, too ;)

Where did you hear Crameri was coming?

Do not want.......he's played 42 games out of a possible 90 odd since 2014.
No drug cheats thanks
Agree with concerns re crameri. Essendon have also offered he and stringer a deal. Maybe stringer has him being contracted as a part of his deal. Bit nervous about that.

If Tuohy is our weak link in the backline, we are going to do alright, I reckon. The guy should have made the AA squad.

With quality small forwards, Buzza just has to crash packs and bring the ball to the ground and chime in with a goal or two from marks, he can do that.
