We are a better team without henderson. Harry was looking a little slow against collingwood as well

Hopefully Taylor just finding his feet in first game back for some time. Doesn't necessarily have to be Henderson we're better off without, but I 'm not convinced we can fit both he and Taylor in the same backline with the way the game is played at the moment.

We'd also run the risk of reconfiguring a backline that has defended (and rebounded) pretty well from Rd 4 onwards.

That’s fair. I think McCarthy is more dangerous and likely to bob up with a few goals but I can see your side of it.
If Fogarty started finishing off his hard work better he’d be top 3 or 4 in our goal kicking. Missed 3 sitters against WCE, multiple in other weeks.

There’s a knack to putting them through the big sticks. Not convinced (yet) he has that. McCarthy does.

Don't think Blicavs is in our best 22 if he doesnt play key back. Would rather GHS to play as a mid instead.

Blicavs can play as 2nd ruck:

B: Bews Taylor Kolo
HB: Tuohy Henderson Stewart
C: Duncan Ablett Kelly
HF: Menegola Menzel Cockatoo
F: Parfitt Hawkins McCarthy
R: Smith Dangerfield JSelwood
I: Blicavs SSelwood CGuthrie Ratugolea

I would play Crameri instead of Taylor or Henderson and I think that would be the best 22 for this season.

Reckon you only need 1 of Henderson, Taylor or Blicavs against Richmond.
If you want to go against Richmond then it's very important to have defenders that can kill off the hack kicks they send i50 instead of letting them spill (or worse yet be marked by a Dusty/Caddy/Riewoldt).

Much as the small forwards receive so much hype, they're only really a secondary threat.

Richmond actually leave their F50 quite open and when they get the footy they turn it into a running race back to goal. They then share with handball to open sides up. We would be quite susceptible to this if we pick a big back line.

Both average less than a goal a game, Fogs with more scoring shots. But I take your point.

Edit: McCarthy is a more natural scorer. Neither are great though.

There's absolutely no chance that we will leave our defence open. Our whole game plan is now based around not allowing opposition easy goals when they force a turnover so always having men behind the ball and not taking massive risks with the ball.

Well we will get smashed around the ball as they will have 4 extras in their. Eventually the backs will get sucked up the ground to even out the numbers.

The backs aren't going to have an impact on slowing their transition play no matter how few KPD you play. Very separate issue (how they counterattack/set up from behind the play as opposed to how they deliberately go forwards to attack).

B: Bews Taylor Kolo
HB: Tuohy Blicavs Stewart
C: Duncan Kelly Parfitt
HF: Menegola Menzel Cockatoo
F: Ablett Hawkins Fogarty
R: Smith Dangerfield JSelwood
I: SSelwood Ratugolea CGuthrie/Henry McCarthy/Gregson

E: Crameri Thurlow & two bench players who miss.

**cant see Hendo getting back match fit this year

Cant believe how many think Dan Menzel can play CHF, Dan is an opportunistic third tall not a key position player. I think the club has decided Hawkins and Ratugolea hold those two key posts. If Henderson does get back this year, I would be happy to see Blicavs play second ruck coming off the bench and leave Sav Rat up forward crashing packs.

I don’t think Zac Tuohy is a lock, aside from not being able to tackle and defend he doesn’t use the ball that well, his kick ins are predictable ( after he kicks to himself most times for a cheapie), there was a big highlight in the afl record last week stating he concedes the most scores against from his turnovers . What am I missing as nearly all people have him as a lock?

Use Cockatoo as an impact player
Billiantly attacking and defensive interchange
Not too bad in the depth department either

I would have Crameri instead of Smith. Ratugolea & Blitz can play ruck. Provides the team with greater flexibility.

we would get slaughtered by West Coast (amongst others). Crameri is a long way off being best 22, let's see how he has performed over the next 4 - 6 games.

Your kidding, a long way off ???

He is miles ahead of Parsons and Gregson who are currently in the team. If Crameri is not best 22 he would at the very least be the next cab off the rank.

Crameri is best 22 for mine regardless of whether Menzel is in the team.

I'll be happy to be proven wrong, time will tell.

I don't think that you can have a best 22 without a designated ruckman. Without Smith Grundy could have caused us a world of hurt.
