There's been a bit of discussion about Henderson in the round 17 thread, so I thought I would bump this thread.

B: Bews Taylor Kolo
HB: Tuohy Henderson Stewart
C: Duncan Ablett Kelly
HF: Menegola Menzel Cockatoo
F: Parfitt Hawkins McCarthy
R: Stanley Dangerfield JSelwood
I: Blicavs SSelwood CGuthrie Ratugolea
E: Smith Cunico Henry Fogarty

Did people see our VFL squad this week
19 players on our AFL list with Abbot and Constable as interchange players
Atkins the only player named in the 18 that is VFL listed player
Some pressure on the team right now
Still with McCarthy and Ratagolea to come back too
My current best 22
Bews Taylor Stewart
Tuohy Blicavs Henry
Duncan S.Selwood Kelly
Cockatoo Hawkins Parfitt
Menzel Dangerfield Narkle
Stanley J.Selwood Ablett
Menegola Henderson Ratagolea Fogarty
Em Cunico JJ C.Guthrie McCarthy
on standby Smith, Murdoch Thurlow Gregson Buzza Horlin Smith Parsons

I reckon on current form Narkle may have pushed me to the sidelines

Interesting to see that you've allowed Narkle to overtake you, Lincoln.

Looks like the three differences between our teams are:

Toe Poke: Kolo, McCarthy, CGuthrie
LMcCarthy: Henry, Narkle, Fogarty

as chris scott usually says, he doesn’t know his best side until very late in the season, quite often after being turfed out of finals.
Must be why he makes bizarre last-minute changes to the side for finals, like moving Henderson out of defence to play in the forward line for the first time that year or dropping Menzel when the side lacked scoring capacity.

Ideally your side should be settled by finals. You shouldn't be moving around or omitting key players or making significant structural changes at that point.

I think our best team is:

FB: Bews Blicavs Henry
HB: Touhy Henderson Stewart
C: Kelly J.Selwood S.Selwood
HF: Ablett Ratugolea Fogarty
FF: Cockatoo Hawkins Menzel
R: Stanley, Dangerfield, Duncan
I/C: Parfitt, C.Guthrie, Menegola, Narkle

I think I'd be looking at a three different options
1. Ratugolea as CHF and 2nd ruck (preferred option)
2. Menzel FF and Hawkins CHF and Blicavs ruck (Kolo 2nd KPD)
3. Crameri CHF and Blicavs 2nd ruck (bringing in Kolo for Guthrie depending on matchups)

Just as a secondary exercise, I've picked a reserves team, based on everyone being available apart from the 22 selected above:

B: Henry House ZGuthrie
HB: Thurlow Black O'Connor
C: Murdoch Cunico Parsons
HF: Narkle Buzza Jones
F: Gardner Crameri Fogarty
R: Smith Horlin-Smith Simpson
I: Abbott Gregson Constable Miers Atkins

Of the starting 18, 15 have played in the seniors this year (Simpson will be the 16th), with only House and Gardner the only two yet to play in the seniors.

45 players on the list (numbers 1 to 46, except 43).
22 in the seniors
22 named above + Atkins
Hayball not in the above team

Getting closer now to seeing our best side on the park. Cockatoo our for the year hurts, but we’re getting players back. SavRat is in our best 22 when fit also. So Assuming they both miraculously get fit before September...

B: Bews, Blicavs, Henry
HB: Stewart, Henderson, Tuohy
C: cockatoo, Kelly, Duncan
HF: Ablett, SavRat, Narkle
FF: Jones, Hawkins, Menzel
R: Stanley, Dangerfield, J.Selwood
IB: S.Selwood, Taylor, Parfitt, Guthrie
Emg: Kolo, Murdoch, Menegola, Guthrie

Harsh on Menegola and Guthrie and Kolo, but I think a premiership
Side is usually so strong that quality players miss out. And the reality is that Henry has gone past Kolo this year. He makes less mistakes and is a great intercept mark. Menegola is a good midfielder, but he consistently goes missing in big games when the heat is on. Some may query Jones inclusion, but I think he gives us a terrier like forward pocket who tackles like no one else. He’s also a genuine left footer which we lack. Fit and in form, I’d back this side to beat anyone in the league.

And Guthrie is a very good footballer IMO, but he doesn’t get a game ahead of Tuohy, Bews or cockatoo. Some may query Jones inclusion, but I think he gives us a terrier like forward pocket who tackles like no one else. He’s also a genuine left footer which we lack. You've selected Kelly twice. Could one of Menegola, McCarthy or Guthrie replace the duplicate Kelly?

Actually - change of mind - no need to list all three of those players. Could Menegola replace the duplicate Kelly?

What I'd give for a spare Kelly. Could trade him back to West Coast and keep the real one for ourselves :D

Updated...

B: Mark Blicavs - Harry Taylor - Jed Bews
HB: Tom Stewart - Lachie Henderson - Zach Tuohy
C: Patrick Dangerfield - Joel Selwood - Scott Selwood
HF: Tim Kelly - Tom Hawkins - Brandan Parfitt
F: Daniel Menzel - Esava Ratugolea - Nakia Cockatoo
Foll: Zac Smith - Mitch Duncan - Gary Ablett
I/C: Stewart Crameri, Zach Guthrie, Lachie Fogarty, Jake Kolodjashnij
Em: Cam Guthrie, James Parsons, Jackson Thurlow, Lincoln McCarthy, Sam Menegola

Previously I called Blicavs to the backline before it happened. Now my final team selection.

Not bad
Not sure about Murder in the backline though

Posted this is in another thread, but this seems the better place to do it haha

When you consider that our best 22 looks something like this (with Dahl included)

B: Tom Stewart, Mark Blicavs, Jed Bews
HB: Zach Tuohy, Lachie Henderson, Jack Henry
C: Mitch Duncan, Joel Selwood, Tim Kelly
FO: Rhys Stanley, Patrick Dangerfield, Gary Ablett
HF: Brandan Parfitt, Tom Hawkins, Nakia Cockatoo (Swap with Scooter at the moment and then C. Guthrie to the bench)
F: Daniel Menzel, Esava Ratugolea, Luke Dahlhaus (Swap with McCarthy and then Fogarty or Cunico to the bench for '18)
INT: Harry Taylor, Sam Menegola, Lincoln McCarthy, Scott Selwood

Then you have the depth of the following players:

Cam Guthrie, Jake Kolodjashnij, Jordan Cunico, Quinton Narkle, Jamaine Jones, Gryan Miers, Ryan Abbott, Aaron Black, Stewart Crameri, Lachie Fogarty, Charlie Constable, Timm House, Jordan Murdoch and Mark O'Connor (debutants for 2018 listed in bold)

I'm very happy with where our list is right now.
