I was just thinking this then, thought it'd be interesting discussion. Who's the best RIGHT NOW? Ie. don't say McCartney based on how good he was, consider based on how good he is right now.

Personally, I'd probably say Robbie Williams.

No real standouts. Someone mentions McCartney before me? unwritten rule surely. His voice is good for a 63 year old but yes not the best in the world, but the best in the world over 40 by a mile. Helter Skelter Live 2005.

Didnt hear David Gilmour singing Money at Live8??????
I did hear Money and yes Gilmore still has it, mate. Did you know that he is responsible for one of the best guitar break in a Paul McCartney song, is one of his best mates and was in his band when he did the Run Devil Run rock album and the cavern show, also he played on Maccas grammy award winning rockestra in 79 along with members of Led Zeppelin?

Of all time it would have to be Etta James - beautiful voice
Etta James is great. However I think that Ella Fitzgerald has the most beautiful voice that I've ever heard - absolutely divine. Any so called 'singer' should listen to an Ella record to discover what it actually means to sing.

No I didnt. Hmm, being the person that i am thats another album I'll just have to get because David appears on it. I did notice that David went straight to Paul when the ensemble came out came out at the end for i think it was Hey Jude. Out of interest whats the song your talking about which he came up with the guitar break? And any more details about the grammy award winning thing in 1979, sounds interesting. Gilmour and Page on the stage stage?? Cool.
