Two different groups, Manfred Mann were around in the 60's too and covered Dylan's "Quinn The Eskimo" and also the hit "do wah diddy" which everyone knows. I am not sure about ELO doing a version, sometimes people get the artists mixed up before offering downloads of songs, very often.
Sometimes called The Mighty Quinn, matera ;) Quite a favourite at a few parties from back in the day.
I'm with you on the second bit, I've never heard ELO do Blinded By The Light, unless they did it as part of their live stuff and it's available on a bootleg somewhere. Certainly never been on a studio album of theirs.

Interesting. Must have been a very slow mover as i remember it starting to get airplay around late April 1980, at the same time as Peter Gabriel's " Games Without Frontiers ' first hit the airwaves and was promptly banned thanks to the heavily synthesises intro / outro being ' decoded ' and publicised by the host of a popular rock show at the time.....

Speaking of early 1980, a bit of a memory test. Anyone remember these tunes that charted in teh early months of 1980?

Married Women - Grand Junction
Still Sane - Carolyn Mas
Let Me Be - Korona

Yeah it was around early 1980. The only reason I knew it was '79 was a single that I bought had it on there.

As for those 3 x 1980s songs I can't say I have ever heard them and I thought I knew the majority of songs that made the charts in that year.

All three were minor hits in the early part of 1980.
Of them. " Married Women ' is probably the most well known. It went top 20 in March of 1980 and received quite a bit of airplay.
Carolyne Mas' " Still Sane " was a regular on Countdown but struggled into the low 30s on the chart around April.
And ' Let Me Be' , despite having a sizeable chunk of airplay, failed to make any impression on our charts. A little known fact regarding this artist, Korona - he was actually a new incarnation of Starbuck, who had a huge hit here in 1976 with " Moonlight Feels Right '.
