Darren Millane would buy and sell Buckley as a footballer. While I'm intruding, don't for one second forget how good Swan was, Millane and Swan are in your top 5 ever, Buckley should not be in anyones top ten. Please don't mention his Brownlow , it ranks along side Cotchins as one of the biggest gifts in football.
Tony Shaw 1990 GF , one of the greatest captains games ever played.
PS. Be nice it's sunday.

Maybe get drunk Cold Sober because you have NFI......one thing you're right about is Millane.

Every time I saw Anderson line up on Millane and poo his pants was a highlight for me.

Bucks was a gun mate just like Hird and I don't use that term often.

Hird did get over some significant injuries.

Who was helping him through these dark times?

Depends when they’re playing 1990, 2018 or somewhere in between. Our team today is pretty tough and could play in 1990, but you need to be quick these days

There are plenty of quick players in those sides....and to coin a Jack Dyerism "You always look faster when you've got the ball"

And one I love:

Nobody ever runs faster than a well kicked football.

Great contribution.

I have such a soft spot for micky mcguane. Like many that grew up with Daicos being everything (still got 35 on the jumper to this day), his retirement left a gaping hole. Mick was the bloke that stepped up for me to fill the void.

People talk about Pendles ability to work through traffic, but Mick saw the game play out in front of him 4-5 steps ahead of everyone else. When he got the ball and took off for a run, the crowd just buzzed. When Mick was on the run, anything could happen.

For many, he is remembered for 3 things. A 7 bounce goal, a dropped chest mark and his flubbed kicks with the pain killers that acted more like an epidural.

His groins cruelled him, players today wouldn't even walk laps if they had his groins. But he was one of the best natural footballers I have ever seen.

Best natural footballer and saw the game play out 4-5 steps ahead.....that was Micky McGuane.
He's so far ahead of someone like Pendles today that its not funny. Mick was brilliant in traffic, tough (loved a good biffo) and a beautiful kick on either side of his body. Remember the 90 GF when Daniher had just knocked out Starce? They looked around for a team mate to take the kick and Mick ran in and just took the ball. I knew as soon as Mick grabbed that ball that he'd sink that goal and we'd be home and his kick never deviated...straight through the high diddle diddle!!

lol....can't believe I made up a side without Bobby Rose in it!

Sorry Pendles....you're dropped.

Needs more Bowman Nixon.

Considered him but there just wasn’t enough exposed form to justify his selection.

These are the best of the best we’re talking about. Generally I wanted a pattern of sublime performances that made us proud to be Collingwood supporters.

Ah say no more, Richard Cole is the big omission.

*.

I suppose I swing BK to centre half forward, bring Cole onto the bench and omit Davidson. To be fair the bloke was cruelled but I was struggling for big forward options.

Now I just need a larger hole so I can squeeze in Shannon Cox...

Cameron Wood (traded for pick 14) over the rookie listed Fanning for starters.
