Hawks. After that disaster of a start they played great footy. Beat the Swans twice, Adelaide in Adelaide, drew with GWS and should have beat Geelong. Beat the Dees also and dogs in the last round who still could have made the 8.

Dees and Saints were the biggest disappointments. Looked a million bucks at times, particularly in the first 14 weeks or so then really struggled.

Probably hawthorn. Had a real horrible first half but around the Adelaide game they got their shit together and was the inform team along with Sydney.

Dogs did not have "all the talent and squander it"

We had competitive talent mixed in with some stars and a lot more heart than most in 2016. We found out this year if you lose 10 per cent of the hunger then you suffer.

Melbourne.

Hawks strong too. St Kilda disappointing - twice they got on a roll only to brought swiftly back to earth by being taken apart by multiple teams. Dogs ok but not the best outside the 8.

I think taking the whole season into account, it has to be Melbourne.

Hawthorn would've done the most damage (and were in the best form) of the teams outside of the 8, though.

Melbourne won 4 of 9 games against the final top8, St.Kilda and Bulldogs won 3 of 11 and Hawthorn 4.5 of 11.

Got to go Melbourne over Hawthorn. The loss to Carlton and Goldcoast show 12th was about right.
But...
Westcoast 4 of 9, Essendon 3 of 8, Sydney 5 of 8, Port 2 of 9
Of 5th - 8th seems Port are the pretenders - 12 of 13 against bottom 10. Gold medal performance for down hill skiing.
Adelaide 7 of 10, Geelong 4.5 of 9, Richmond 4 of 8, GWS 6.5 of 11

Adelaide the team to beat

As poor as people like to say we are, Collingwood only lost twice by more than 30 points and none by more than 40. I'm assuming they were the only side in the comp not to be blown out in a game (I can't recall a Melbourne thrashing to be fair though)

Hawks easily

After that shitty start they went 8-1-6, including a six game stretch where they beat Adelaide away, lost narrowly to Geelong, beat Sydney, drew with GWS away, and easily beat Freo and the Pies. Would be a better finals side than the eagles and power that's for sure

I would rather not see Collingwood in the finals they give us a lot of trouble.

Sydney would be over the moon that hawks are gone.

Besides bogey sides like that yiu would have to go Melbourne, terribly inconsistant season, can play very well at times.
