Whats the best video card I could get my hands on for under $250? I currently have a Radeon 9000pro, but its slowly getting outdated and I was considering updating (obviously selling the current one).

Any recommendations? Currently am leaning towards a Radeon 9600, though the GeForce4 TI4200 looks good too.

GeForce 4 Ti-4200 over a Radeon 9600, I'd say.

Check out Tom's Hardware for further information.

Speed wise, a 9600 is a lot faster than a 4200. But 4200 is cheaper. Still, I doubt you would see an improvement with a move from the 9000 pro to a 4200. The best 'bang for the buck' at the moment would be a 9500 pro if you can find one for cheap, or a 9600 pro. There are also a couple of good GFFX cards coming out now that should be looked into....

Ive got an old 900 processer with 256 MB of RAM, can upgrade to 512MB, also have included sound and video cards. Would like to upgraded both the sound and video cards, any suggestions. Am looking at getting into Bigponds Games arena, as I have Broadband ADSL connected.

Mate, if you can afford it, I wouldn't just upgrade your vid and sound card, I'd go the hog. Replace it with a new comp. If not, audigy series from creative are the best all round sound cards and Ge4 4200 vid card would be your best bets to go with your processor.
