Watching Bolton's goty contender and I can't help think that he is becoming his own type of Dusty. His speed to not only make that contest to thieve the ball but also his breakaway pace once he took it were phenomenal. Not to mention getting his balance inside the boundary to take the shot.

This goal reminded me of Dusty's goal late against the Cats in the 20 GF when he reads the handball from Stanley to Danger, intercepts it, runs to the boundary, shrugs off Danger and then turns and locks on to the space between the goal posts and sends it through.

Yeah they are different goals but they have their similarities and one of them is scintillating brilliance from start to finish.

Hoping Bolts continues to play his way and find the rewards his natural talent affords just as Dusty has.

Regarding Edwards, I know his age raises questions about his output but I wonder if it's fair to say it could be a question of form with him and not age?

That’s just a basic way of thinking unfortunately. He’s old and hasn’t been performing but you think he just going to suddenly rediscover his form. Meanwhile let’s drop a kid who is the future when he’s playing good footy. Makes no sense.
And btw I was at the game and edwards was one of the worst for us by far so don’t know how you think he was greatly improved.

How'd Rioli go.

It's not just a couple of games though for Shedda. He was ordinary last year but the excuses were out then. In 2020 he wasn't much better. His last consistently good year was 2019. He's a champion of the club but his CONSISTENT best is long gone.

You must have slept through the 2020 GF. Shedda is a big game player. Like a mate of mine says, this is the phoney season we're in now.

I think if you look At form back end of last year Sheds was ordinary as well

I know he had a lot of the ball, but I don't think he had any impact late in the game

I can't see that happening. We're not going to drop a mid to play eight defenders, and trying to turn Vlastuin into a mid has been tried and failed several times before.

Whilst Ralphsmith has been impressive for a young player, he's competing with Vlastuin, Short, Broad and Rioli for four spots and he's the worst performed of a group that has been performing really well. It's tough on the kid, but it's the right call imo. It's as simple as Vlastuin > Ralphsmith

I’ll be very disappointed if that happens … dropping a 20yo who has just come off 19 touches and has been showing great development would be the wrong call given where our team is at. Whether it’s Edwards, Parker or Castagna or someone else who makes way I don’t mind … it should not be Hugo, Dow or Gibcus under any circumstances - they should play every game no questions asked (unless they need to be rested…)

Vlas has been stepping up his training loads and they have been very conservative with his progress from reports. When he hits 100% of the drills at training, I believe it was the long kicking as being the issue, he comes straight in. I can't see any other situation but that. If he still is not yet 100%, he'll be held back a week. Talk of him playing in the 2s, I guess a possibility, but very unlikely imo.
Lambo is a bit different, and might need another week and play a full game of VFL, but it would not surprise me if he also was selected. These guys don't need to force their way into the side. If Lambo pulled up OK without any issues, why run around on the 2s for a full game? It makes no difference to his condition. He can run a wing rotation. I'd be dropping George... every game his poor skills and decision making just amazes me. His defensive efforts to the game plan must be at a level no other player can achieve.

If Vlaustin does indeed return then it will be one of Gibcus or Ralphsmith, not matter how harsh it seems. I think Miller stays in, structurally we want at least 2 talls to take oppos 2 key forwards. Gibcus though big has been getting the lesser likes and playing more as an interceptor, which is a more like for like replacement for Vlaustin.

If they really want to keep Ralphsmith in then they could consider moving him up the ground and dropping a mid or forward. That way you can keep both he and Gibcus in, as well as adding Vlaustin. Not sure who makes way from further afield though, and I don't think the MC will go this way. Too many moving pieces IMO.

So unfortunately, barring any injuries I think it will be one of Gibcus/Ralphsmith. Very surprised if Miller is the one to make way.

ive done the homework....bevo and dimma both had dogs boys as 2nd BOG. smith and/or bont....mind boggling, both good but vanilla and we had 4 or 5 as more damaging. dimma must be taking the piss and we all know how salty bevo can be and stuff all votes for deon

If we can play kids now like we are and bank wins still, then get all our players back with an optimised best 22 that includes an exposed underbelly which can step up if need be, we can contend this year. We would need a clean injury run and some injuries to best 22 Melbourne and we could do it. This has a lot of 2019/20 smelling to it where me and others are getting sucked in to us not trying to win the premiership in rounds 1-5. A couple weeks after the bye we will really know where we are at and especially after the Melbourne game.

We can then trade in some picks again to continue with our amazing draft hauls whilst bringing two A+ grade free agents to still content whilst we have Dusty, Lynch, Prestia still close to their peak. This approach has allowed us to find Baker, Bolton, Balta, and the last years draft haul which is looking amazing. Rioli is surplus to our needs and inflated in value we could palm him off for a top pick and plenty are ready to step into his shoes while we load up on some KPP which is our biggest need draft wise.

Not sure anyone can run with Langdon at the moment. The guy is a freak and regularly plays 100% of game time. Doesn't like the tough stuff though so maybe Pickett can smash him a few times.

It is crazy swinging players straight back in at senior tempo when he would be a bit unsure of himself. It was a pretty significant hammy and he can get some miles in the legs. Plus nobody deserves dropping.

What if it was Dusty who had done a week of training and was ready to come back this week?

Vlastuin ain't Dusty but he is near enough as important to our backline. Someone just has to make way if he is ready to play, you can't put a star like that in the twos, where grounds can be worse and guys sometimes play like mongrels.
