The other two were very good, but the more I see it, the more unbelievable it is. 2 points down, less than 2 minutes to go 40m out in the pocket with a thousand pies fans giving it to you in your ear and he goes back and slots it with a drop punt. Doesn't get any more clutch than that.

The whole play that lead to the Sheed goal...

McGovern - the fat boy who became our star defender, almost didn't play, had internal bleeding...
to Dardy Vardy - the bloke who's body had failed him so many times, but got an opportunity back in the side when our star ruckman's body failed him once more...
to Flyin' Ryan - question marks over him being a flight risk... ballsy trade to get the extra 2nd rounders from the Gold Coast... the troubles he's had this year, and no doubt some demons from consecutive WAFL GF shockers...
to the Ice Man Cometh... Sheed did the Deed - dropped a number of times through the year but gets a reprieve when our star midfielder has a brain fade and ends his own season. Slots it with nothing but net.

It will go down in Eagles folklore as the most important passage of play in any game ever.

These memorable words from Sandy Roberts will stay with me till I die.

"And the Eagles set sail for home and say catch me if you can."

But Sheed's goal was special.

We had four shots for goal in that last quarter three of which should have been sodas and one was extremely difficult.

Masten, Kennedy and Ryan fluffed their lines and as for the the difficult shot............ Sheed nailed it.

Will go down as an Eagles Classic Goal and you would imagine its a goal thats going to get Dom many free lunches and many free drinks for the rest of his life.

That's a tough one as they were all so special but I'll go with sheed. Under the circumstances the eagles were in with 80000 Collingwood supporters against him and being behind with only a few minutes left. That whole passage of play was amazing. His kick reminds me of Kerr's goal in the 2006 geelong match when they won from 9 goals down. Such a tight angle yet nailed it.

I can't choose!!!

I loved Shuey's underrated goal yesterday.
Tap, Handball, Goal!

You may have mashed multiple Sandy quotes together there. :p

"Matera sets sail for home... and the EAGLES.... HIT THE FRONT!"

It was later on when we were purring that he went with, "And the Eagles say catch us if you can."

He warmed up with the "sets sail" call in a previous Matera goal, too.

The composure to kick a goal from there at that stage of the game was quite simply unbelievable. Especially for a player who’s composure under pressure has been questioned.

And it never looked like missing

Also goals on the run are instinctive so players don’t have to deal with the demons inside their head as they line up. A set shot from the boundary with 2 minutes left and your team trailing being abused by thousands of screaming supporters (some only metres away) how many demons you reckon Sheed had running around his head. The definition of clutch

I prefer my version. ;)
