Here are some interesting stats regarding the Eagles primary defenders, ranked from 1 to 5 based on best win/neutralise contest %.

1. Jeremy McGovern: has been in 44 one-on-one defensive contests. 17 won, 6 lost, 21 neutralised. Total win/neutralise % of 86

2. Will Schofield has been in 24 one-on-one defensive contests. 10 won, 4 lost, 10 neutralised. Total win/neutralise % of 83

3. Shannon Hurn: has been in 24 one-on-one defensive contests. 9 won, 4 lost, 11 neutralised. Total win/neutralise % of 82

4. Brad Sheppard: has been in 28 one-on-one defensive contests. 11 won, 5 lost, 12 neutralised. Total win/neutralise % of 81

5. Tom Cole: has been in 22 one-on-one defensive contests. 5 won, 7 lost, 12 neutralised. Total win/neutralise % of 68

Here are one-on-one stats for the Eagles top three forward 50 targets, ranked from 1 to 5 based on best win/neutralise contest %.

1. Jack Darling: has been the target on 61 occasions, 19 won, 15 lost and 27 neutralised. Total win/neutralise % of 75

2. Josh Kennedy: has been the target on 39 occasions, 12 won, 11 lost and 16 neutralised. Total win/neutralise % of 71

3. Oscar Allen:
has been the target on 22 occasions, 3 won, 7 lost and 12 neutralised. Total win/neutralise % of 67.

Tom Stewart has only been involved in 13 one-on-one contests. The top 15 list I have provided above is based on players that have been involved in 45 plus one-on-ones. Stewart is very much an attacking defender who barely is asked to play one-on-one.

Another interesting one- Lewis Jetta really struggles one-on-one. He has been in 15 contests and has only a 40% win/neutralise rate.

He is definately more of an offensive player then a defensive one.

We really have more of a back 5 then a back 6.
Yeah it feels as though he rarely plays behind an opponent. He's usually exposed by a turnover and is running back in the same direction as the flight of the ball to try and influence the mark.
