I have noticed there are quite a few that are in their first year of SC, so I thought I would share this for those that think they are struggling.
My worst selection came at the start of my first year (2006), I selected Phil Matera in my initial 30 only to find out after Rd 1 that he had actually retired at the end of the previous season but somehow was on the list of 2006 players. I learnt some tricks along the way and finished around the 10,000 mark.
Also last year another bad selection was bringing in Bartel on the Friday morning just before Rd 21, then finding out a few hours later he had gone in to have his appendix removed. That cost me the Prelim cos if he played and scored his average I would have won and the following week scored 2430 which would have won me the GF after finishing on top.
Best selections have been having Judd as captain for most of 2006, and Ablett as captain for most of this year.
In my 3rd year now and currently ranked in the top 200, so you certainly learn as you go along.
