I'm almost an expert on falafels in Adelaide. I can tell you where to go and how to order almost anywhere in the CBD or southside of the city.

I've been going to the Falafel House on Hindley St for 6-7 years a lot. I don't even have to order these days. Its cheap, decent quality and I've never got sick from it, unlike other places. But the best tasting falafel in Adelaide is Zoe's on King William Rd, Hyde Park. Dine in or take away. Absolute gold.

It would have to be Yiannis on Hindley street hands down IMHO, apparently there is a Yiannis on the parade as well, but they are not associated in anyway.

But I guess it depends what you like, if you prefer the more Greek style Yiros as opposed to the middle eastern style Kebab then I think Yiannis is a clear winner.

Kebabs will have thinner slices of meat and tends to have tabouli (sp?) and usually cooked vertical, where as traditional greek yiros meat is cooked horizontal over coals and has salad and garlic sause with a hint of lemon juice.

Yep, agree 100%. If it aint cooked over coals then it aint worth eating:thumbsu:

Best Yiros ive had is at the Findon Shopping Centre at a place called Kosta's Greek. Kills any other Yiros ive had.

Kosta's are the best in Adelaide!! Tried Yiannis and Savvas on other people's recommendations. I always keep going back to Kosta's.

The meat is outstanding. All prepared by the owner who takes great pride in the quality of his product.

I might have one for lunch now..... :p

Thought I might grab one for lunch so headed towards them only to find the shop was not there!!!

Turns out White Pages online have the old address and not the noew one.

Now I know where they are I should find my way down there within the week to try them out:thumbsu:

Update: Tried them today. A little dissapointed....I strayed from my "no upright rotissarie yiros meat" policy based on the recommendations in this thread. The meat was a little dry and did not have the seasoned/charcoal flavor of Yiannis in Hindley St.

On a positive note there were some really nice sounding traditional greek foods I will go back to try.

Next on the list is the one at Malvern..Savvas I think?
