After a night on the town they could wrap up a piece of dried up dog shit in pita bread and it would be the best tasting thing you've ever had.

As for me I don't know if its the 'best' Yiros I've ever had but the Yummy Yiros next to Sotos do a great Yiros, I usually go with the Lamb.

It was funny when I was in Brisbane for nationals and I was with blokes from WA, Vic, NSW and ACT and I was like 'where can I grab a Yiros'. Obviously they were baffled but I got it to catch on and they spread the word when they returned to their home states :thumbsu:

It would have to be Yiannis on Hindley street hands down IMHO, apparently there is a Yiannis on the parade as well, but they are not associated in anyway.

But I guess it depends what you like, if you prefer the more Greek style Yiros as opposed to the middle eastern style Kebab then I think Yiannis is a clear winner.

Kebabs will have thinner slices of meat and tends to have tabouli (sp?) and usually cooked vertical, where as traditional greek yiros meat is cooked horizontal over coals and has salad and garlic sause with a hint of lemon juice.

It's spelled gyros here or they call it a kebab or souvlaki.
In SA I ordered a potatoe cake they didn't know what I was on about, you guys call it a scallop or something.

Do you mean 'fritter' or something?

Scallops live in the sea dude. I don't think potatos do.

edit: actually my bad

Yep been to Yiannis quite a bit on the parade. Quality yiros' but fat old ugly sweaty men preparing them.

In Adelaide we call them ‘Potato fritters’ but in New South Wales they are called ‘potato scallops’

Last time I checked, Adelaide was not in New South Wales.

Not only do they host a parade involving gays and trannies, they call a bit of potato a ****ing scallop!

What does that have to do with anything?
He said we called them scallops, clearly we don’t. We don't, they do.

Yeah I love that place.

After the United vs Bling ****ers game at Adelaide Oval I went to Queens Head for a kick on sesh, then we caught a taxi into town just to grab a yiros from there. I went home a happy and content man despite Adelaide losing. That is how sexual their yiros' are.

A fritter is it? I think a potato scallop is what it's called somewhere. I know scallop is a mollusk thank you very much.

From wikipedia's potato cake page "In Australia, potato cakes (which tend to be known as potato scallops in NSW), are very common in fish and chip shops. Potato scallops originate from England (or at least in the north of England) and are also common in fish and chip shops there. This variant is normally a thick slice of potato, dipped in batter and fried, with no additional flavouring added except salt." It's NSW where I heard potato scallop. BTW I did say "scallop, or something" meaning I wasn't sure what you guys call it.

Either way real scallops are nice if you get good ones (for example from Tasmania).

Yanni's is ok but sometimes the wait to get one is ridiculous. I find it funny when they say 'yeah that will be a 30 minute wait is that ok?' and you turn around and noone else is in there.

Best Yiros ive had is at the Findon Shopping Centre at a place called Kosta's Greek. Kills any other Yiros ive had.

ps. Scallops are the best. Not the shitty little dried up shit the size of a 5 cent piece you get at Barnacle Bills. Im talking bout **** off Scallops the size of the palm of your hand, drizzled in lemon and lime juice then coated in herbs and oven baked. Or seared to perfection on the barbie.

My favourite seafood.

Had an awesome one from some place on hindly at about 5 this morning. The place was called something to do with falafels. Their BBQ sauce is the shit.
