Easily forgotten, you say?

No, he’s going to be fantastic, it’s just far too early to even consider where you’d place him. There aren’t many forwards who come in and kick 25 goals in their first season (consisting of just 17 games). Is he true key position size? My memory was he was a fraction shorter.

Agreed! 195cm, so has the height, but needs to put on another 10kg at least.

I know he’s not a KPF, but was mightily impressed by O’Sullivan on the weekend.

Darcy and daylight.

Not sure if stats are misleading with Thilthorp or he just hasn't stood out as much for some reason.

Since returning from injury last year, Thilthorpe has been as effective as his stats advertise.

I do think the major problem with TT stat line is he currently lacks that big 5+ goal game to really cement his reputation in this run. To use a cricket example, it's a bit Shane Watson at his peak at the moment, where it's a lot of 70-80s in a world where you make your name with a big 100. Valuable, but not valued externally. However, I do feel pretty confident in predicting will be a team or two in the next couple of months that he puts to the sword if he stays healthy. His game just looks in a good place, and inevitably that dam will break if Adelaide keeps playing well.

It's why the saying "player X would get alot more recognition if he was playing for a Victorian team" is said so often by Victorian commentators.

Interstate players don't get the same level of attention as Victorian players do.
So why is Voss rated on par with Hird and Buckley despite playing for an interstate team his whole career?
Why is Fyfe rated on par with Dangerfield and Martin?
Why is Pavlich rated on par with Nick Riewoldt?

Ricciuto/Mcleod are never mentioned as part of that group and were was just as good. We have a history of our players at Adelaide not being as highly regarded.

Voss was three times premiership captain and a Brownlow winner, plus 5 times AA.
You can't not compare him to them.

Why isn't Mark Ruccutio considered as good by many Victorians? Brownlow medal, 1x Premiership, 7 x AA.

Fyfe, a Brownlow winner.
Most people I know don't put Pav on the same level as Nick, and they also don't put Warren Tredrea on the same level even though he was.

Unless interstate players are winning Brownlows, multiple AA or premierships, they are not given the same attention.

The fact that its Victorian commentators who are saying things like "if he was.playing for a Victorian club he would be getting more attention" should tell you what you need to know. The fact they admit it themselves is damming.

Jacob van Rooyen
Jed Walter
Shannon Neale
Calsher Dear
Sam Darcy
Logan McDonald
Aaron Cadman
Riley Thilthorpe
Jamarra Ugle-Hagan
Nate Caddy
Harrison Jones
Josh Treacy
Harry Armstrong
Mitch Georgiades

And its not even close, he is the best by some margin.

Darcy and Thilthorpe at this stage. There's a lot of young tall keys so the future is bright.

Would have those two as the clear #1 and #2. Logan Morris is my #3 though. I think he'll lock that spot in by the end of the year.

Adelaide board seems to have flooded this thread....

Darcy by a country mile.
What's happened to the Hawks supporters claiming Dear is better than Thilthorpe... like no bias at all. ;)

Going to be great watching the respective careers of Darcy & Thilthorpe as both are going to be guns.

He's looking the good to take over from Daniher.

Shame he's not a few years older! Doing some seriously great things as an undersized key forward. Don't think he'll hit Jeremy Cameron level, but can genuinely see him being a lesser version of him when he peaks.

I wouldn't undersell Traecy.

Kicked 45 last year and can easily seem kick 50 plus this season.

Great find for Freo and very talented. 3 years older than Morris, so basing my thoughts on him more on where I think he'll get to above anything else.

Treacy is stupidly good especially when you consider where he was taken.

I'd have to say Sam Darcy, but I also think people are going to be surprised when they see Jed Walter play this year. Expecting big things.

I'm asking this question with a sense of ignorance (calling it out upfront as I haven't watched a stack of him)...is Thilthorpe a Kurt Tippett like player? Tippett was very good when on. But he wasn't special.

Darcy I think can be elite. I can't say that about Thilthorpe (I'm happy to be corrected...like I said, I haven't see enough of him).

Of the list posted, I can only see Darcy reaching elite status. Quite a few of the others can certainly reach very good levels. But elite...not sure.

I mean Naughton’s as good, if not better as a forward presence than Fog is, so it’s not like it’s Darcy and no-one else

Darcy’s generational in the air, but RT is very good in his own right, taken 5 contested marks over the first two rounds. I’d also have RT ahead for ball use and ground ball cleanliness, but that’s to be expected when he’s 7cm shorter

Darcy’s ahead overall, but the gap isn’t ’a country mile’

While I am not downplaying Thilthorpe, I can't see where he rates above Darcy on ball use.

Darcy ranks elite for ball use. His field kicking is superb with either foot.

Darcy is also exceptional for his game at ground level.

Obviously he is going to be caught out by more nimble players on agility, but he has also improved his mobility.

If they both attain what they project to be it will be a fun watch.

I am also impressed by Dear at Hawthorn and look forward to the development from Jed Walter.

Nothing alike at all really, Tippett could take a contested mark but lacked the agility, skill, balance and kicking action of RT. Tippett has some of the best skills of a big man I've seen.

Daylight is a ridiculous term when comparing the top few players, really there’s never too much splitting them.

Adelaide fans shouldn’t be so offended though. Who knows where they end up. But right now based on exposed form and the eye test, every team in the comp would take Darcy. would surprise me if even Adelaide didn’t

I wouldn't.

Noone in there right mind would select thilthorpe over darcy. He's definitely 2nd or 3rd but
Thilthorpe absolutely is in the same discussion as Darcy.
He's ahead in goals for starters & plays more in ruck.

Think both will be multiple All Australians.
