Disco Dew got me thinking with his wife's "turn it off" comment...

What do our wives/husbands/bf/gf/etc think about our NMFC obsession?

I married a North supporter. Comes from a family of North supporters dating back to day dot. Same as me. So she gets it. Understands that I enjoy watching training on a Thursday morning. She's not as obsessed as me, but she goes and watches on TV every week. I send her Rick's Shinboner article each week, don't think she gets passed the title tbh.

My wife won't watch much other footy, unless it's a good game or Carlton or Collingwood are playing as she'll banter with her friends who follow those teams. Flatly refuses to watch Geelong. Hates them.

LOL ...does anyone actually just enjoy a neutral game of footy without moaning how shit North are?
Despite my comments last night, my wife largely loves (tolerates?) my obsession. She doesn't really share in it (although she does love live games) but its something our daughters and I share so that works for her.

My partner has absolutely zero interest in football and sports in general. Still, she's sympathetic to my mood when we suck, fine with me indoctrinating the little one.

Pretty good with the diversion and distraction tactics. I'll vent for a bit, she'll genuinely repond, and then segue into something else to talk about or focus on, which is really all that can be done.

My wife couldn’t care less about football but she puts the fixture in her calendar so she knows what days I’m not going to attend social events and will try to work around that.

My first wife of 15 years didn't really care either way, attended some games with me and the kids but only to keep me company. The second (and current) wife had no interest in football (or sport for that matter) but is now so into it, she hardly misses a home game. But she is being pretty cynical about our current level of play wondering when (and if) we are ever going to see some success to justify the outlay of time, energy and money we are putting into it as a family.

I met my wife the night of the 1996 Grand Final while out drunkenly and obnoxiously celebrating. She's a North supporter too, but says my behaviour has "ruined it for her"
I'm on a long and continuous path to self improvement...

My wife barracked for Essendon* when I met her but she didn't really care.

Told her I was interested in footy but she had no idea to what level, took her to a few games and she enjoyed it.

She came every week until about covid, shes lost all interest and doesn't know why I still bother to go

my wife has no interest in Footy and will sit upstairs when i watch on TV. She knows by my yelling and cursing on how we go. She understands we are going through a 7 year drought for wins and that my language can be over the top on occasions. understands maggots are the umpires and if im seeing the team song we have won
