[/quote]couldhavebeen makes a good point about Mayne, he'd have to be extremely close to top 3 if hes not already in it.
I don't see Crowley underrated around here at all. A super-stopper. Top 3.... I don't see it. In fact I can see a situation emerging like Collingwood had where they don't tag at all if Sylvia and some of the young fellas fire up .
Mayne has re defined the CHF position in that no longer can a forward just worry about just kicking goals as his job ,now he has to be accountable for his opponent when his team does't have the ball and He must be applying up to 7 tackles a game .Serious? You mean our top 3 players? Is Mayne ahead of Johnson and MacPharlin? Ahead of Barlow?
Post up your top 3 Mike.
Nope.Mayne has re defined the CHF position in that no longer can a forward just worry about just kicking goals as his job ,now he has to be accountable for his opponent when his team does't have the ball and He must be applying up to 7 tackles a game .
This locks the ball in the forward line until a gaol is scored or the defence has time to get back and defend .
Barlow is a good player and is top class but Mayne is more valuable due to the pressure he creates
Not sure if it was here or in one of the other threads but if Crowley is out I would not have De Boer do his role. IMHO watching the GU take apart Hannaberry in the final against the swannies crowned him as heir apparent for Crowley's role.

Never thought I'd have to say this here, but Mayne is actually underrated on our own board. No one else plays his role as good as he does in the AFL. Best forward pressure player, our second best forward, deadly accurate and rarely has a bad game. I'd be more worried if Mayne missed a game than Barlow.
Says the person who doesn't care about loyalty and love when it comes to families. As worried as you were about missing Broughton?
I would be more worried about missing Pavlich, MacPharlin, Fyfe, Mundy, Johnson, Walters and Crowley than missing Mayne. I would also be worried about missing Mayne along the same lines as I would be worried about missing some other very good players in Barlow, Sandilands, Hill, Ballantyne.
He is the perfect replacement for De Boers role and Sylvia should take over at CHF . Otherwise Sylvia on HFF and Taberner at CHF .
We will have some real height in the forward line as well as terrific hungry tackling machines . Can't wait till the selectors chose who gets a guernsey in the Preseason games because all the boys arepushing for a place even now at training

You actually just proved my point in my post. You severely underrate Mayne.
I think the opposition would feel happier with Barlow missing than Mayne missing.
You know exactly what I mean. When you're ready to grow up, then talk to me.Sorry? You are rating Mayne due to loyalty, or as a family man? I thought we were discussing football.
Agreed. Think Mayne could be in for a massive year next year. One thing I am sure about is Chop will relish not having the number 1 or 2 defender on him.
With Gumby and Sylvia coming in I'd expect to see Mayne draw the 3rd or 4th best defender.
He has done a great job albeit fighting in the wrong division.
Really, I expect him to become more attacking in 2014 and do it well.
