The fact the club (Bevo, Grant or whoever) chose to let Joel Corey go before Gia and Rohan Smith really tells the story and highlights the issue.

The club needs to let Gia and Smith go and get people in who have experienced what footy is like at more than 1 club.

Dal left for a variety of reasons. One of the main reasons was he was not happy with how the recruiting staff and the football department roles weren't clearly defined, ambiguous. In short they were all over the shop in terms of who was responsible for what, who can make final decision etc etc

Not sure Bev is responsible for setting up roles and responsibilities in all areas including recruiting that usually comes for a Director of Football etc

That was his biggest issue and that made him generally unhappy.

At the time I wasn’t happy when Dal was moved on premiership player etc..and I thought his form would turn around but now after his below average output and impact for us and the cats for 3 seasons no huge loss.

Couple of things yes Bev's influence in areas where its not warranted is an issue but that's where a Football Director/Manager, CEO etc need to be strong and be able to have clear lines of responsibilities and each persons role.

For Dal to leave because he was at logger heads with the coach on a pick in the rookie draft just doesn't make sense to me anyway. I am sure Dal knows what battles to pick.

No one before Bev had an issue with Dals role and many on here talk of him as a drafting genius so losing him for a lack defined role is amateur hour.

Sorry mate my info, and many in here also, is that the Gowers pick was the bulk reason for Dal walking, Bevs influence was a growing issue.

Anyway it’s done let’s just hope the club sort this out because at the moment it seems to be all over the place and with Covid and lack of money I fear we are stuck with the coaches we have which means we are not going anywhere.

When Gia and Smith were given roles anymore than skills coaching we have gone backwards. Track Gias history at the club since the end of 16 and the evidence shows anything he touches declines rapidly

I think he was part of the reason Dal left, not the total reason. Seem to recall there being angst between Dal and Jmac as well.

Dal was great, Jmac was generally good at retention, but not great at the trade table more so when we were shipping someone out.

Grant wouldn’t be on the match committee it would be very stranger for a football director to be on a match committee.

Generally a match committee is the senior coach, the senior assistant, the 3 line coaches and the reserve coach

Maple is our general football manger. He's not an assistant coach or our development manager. Seems to be some confusion, just thought I'd point that out.

If that's the case, why is he in the coaching box all the time, or on the interchange bench? He seems to play an integral role in gameday operations

We need a couple of harder blokes. Lots of “nice” players at our club. I’d be looking to find some little smartarse forward with some campaigner to him to bring some biffo into the forward line and ditto someone to back up Libba in the guts. Stringer and C Smith are sadly missed for balance in our player types and we need those type of players back to move forward in my opinion. Or a B Johnson or Aka type. Someone classy with some magic. Not sure where we find one but that’s top of my list to purchase if we can!
