Kudos to Jed for making a decent career out of what, even he must admit, are quite limited talents.

I’m somewhat reassured that Cooper has been given another couple of years. I was starting to get worried and hope his body gives him a chance.

Not surprised by either signing - we'll always going to extend Stephens contract to ensure he was given a chance to show why we took him in the first round

As for Bews he's not necessarily the most talented on our list, he would likely admit that he had his limitations and that he has a tendency to kick OOF, but I can't think of too many games where he hasn't given 100% or gotten the best out of himself (and that's not too say he hasn't been beaten)

I still remember our home match versus Port Adelaide back in 2017, it was a tight contest that we won by 2 points - late in the match and Bews was opposed to Gray, Bews had hurt his ankle and would miss the next couple of matches. But with the ball in Ports attacking half & forward 50, Bews continued to will himself to get up & get to the next contest or stoppage to ensure he was opposed to Gray, and refusing to leave Gray unopposed even though you could see the pain on his face

Also like what Lloyd said in the article: "They play the game the right way, they are highly committed and diligent in their approach to being AFL footballers."

Happy to see Jed finish a one team player, and that he will have made the #24 his own by the end of his career - and also acts as the perfect example that not making an early debut doesn't mean one isn't cut out for the game. Drafted in 2011, debuted in 2014 and on track to play 150 - 200 games

That should make Bews a one club player. He has his limitations but he is improving every year. 3 years of solid depth at worst and continued best 22 at best.

Cooper we rate and he was playing well pre injury so it makes sense to lock him in now on low coin.

Looking forward a couple of years the midfield is going to be the key area to rejuvenate after key retirements. Let’s hope Cooper can stay injury free and develop into a player to fill that void.

Bews gives his all every week stopping his opponent and getting some drive from the back.

Bews ..still shabby by foot but we have higher paid players that also in that drinking school. CS will now move into a higher range of expectation we need for him to show something next year. Just get right , come out and bust a gut in the PreSeason and put pressure on fringe selection. No doubt there will be other young players pushing from drafts later than his.

I hope it was a big contract for Stephens as it may be his last
Maybe we should also that the biggest contract of ones career is the one they sign when drafted, because for a good number that'll be the only contract they sign with a football club

I am not surprised by either. To delist CS after two years would require behaviour issues. Another two years..we should have a better idea if he will make it.

I'd like to know the club's thinking behind the two years for Cooper. Given his injury history they could've easily given him one year. I wonder if they wanted to give him the extra year of security to take some pressure off?

Probably bigger than anything you've ever signed.

Maybe give the kid a chance to ya know, actually play a few AFL games before making ridiculous comments. Brodie Kemp hasn't played a game for Carlton yet, and they took him at Pick 9. I'm sure they're not writing him off at only 20 years of age with no exposed form, like you are with Stephens.

Pathetic.

Some sort of gamble I guess but 2 years probable comes with a decent discount money wise.

Think that with the newbies, the club looks to sign them to a 3-year deal off the bat or for those who sign for 2-years, it tends to be a 2-year extension or thanks for your services

Jarvis getting a 1-year last year when it was his first time out of contract, is one of the few I can think of to be given only a 1-year extension
