and snap goals over his shoulder. Key metric that one.

For foward pockets yes. Back pockets not so much.

plus bews is elite at the shimmy. Close doesnt have one.

i do not understand why professional footballers do not take dancing classes. They all should have awesome shimmies. Then again I don’t know why professional footballers can’t continuously hit a target.

That doesn't seem such an issue for Close - rarely wastes a disposal and shown has reliable are hitting his target

Always liked Bews. Got in the team the hard way.
Takes the game on. Rarely beaten.
Continues the tradition of nuggety Geelong HBFs/ BPs
(if there is such a thing these days)
Bews is probably one of the first players selected each week, but he gets so few plaudits. Bews at his best is the dashing HBF who evades opposition players and slots a nice goal on the run

Some players seem better kicks for goal than passing to teammates. Others the opposite. Bews seems like one of the former.

15 goals in his 120 game career. Let's not gild the lily, his kicking is his Achilles heel. More often than not he muffs his opportunities on goal and shanks it out on the full. :screamcat:

Harsh...has slotted a few 50/50 shots. Often backs are under pressure when they kick.
He doesn’t win any prizes but not as bad as people make out
It's not the odd goal that's important, it's the fact that when he kicks one it's usually symptomatic of the fact that we've started pressing up the ground and pouring on the team (ie forward) pressure.

He drops the ball too close to his body and as a result he crowds himself and doesn't kick through it consistently.
He plays his role well though and is one of the defenders capable of going through the corridor to set us up :thumbsu:

Of all our father/son picks, I've always thought his route was the hardest way through. And I love him in the team for it - there really is no other word for what he is.

Nuggety. The son of The Rat is nuggety.

^This - if Bews is taking shots we normally have the game well under control. Which is fortunate coz his hunger for goals is much greater than his ability to kick em!. Fantastic at his role tho, one of my favourites.

Brownless is doing the hard yards now as well. Late pick, delisted (VFL), late pick all in 3 years. Showing some signs recently that he might push through to a good career at AFL level. Showing some dash and a big tank already.

I’m not sure he’ll make it but I agree with what you have said here..
he might make it ... it just depends on list spots too - and whether chook, Narkle and clark leave. He’s be cheap VFL depth at a good price but he needs the upgrade I think as his 3 rookie years are up...

but also got delisted at one point ... so maybe that has reset... I’d have to look
