Beyonce is a sex symbol because she defines what curvy/voluptuous is - no, not fat, no muffin tops, no dimples, no cellulite... she is fit, toned, tight and has the right proportions by working out... plus she knows how to move her body and is successful in her own right, so that to me makes it clear as daylight how she is considered to be a sex symbol.

edit: also, the term 'sex symbol' entails fame... the key to being any sort of symbol is recognition.

Beyonce is incredibly sexy. I understand that not all men are attracted to similar women. I find Jennifer Anniston pretty,but not really sexy which some guys would not understand. It all comes down to personal preference.

I usually prefer women who actually have a distinguishable female body shape, with breasts, hips, a backside and shapely legs, as opposed to an emaciated stick insect (eg. Rebecca Twigley).

Beyonce has that nice female body shape, as well as a nice face that still looks good without make-up (and that's quite an important aspect in its own rite IMO ), so she's pretty alright in my book
