Player ratings gains are updated. They don’t explicitly show the change from last round last year so have to click on an individuals name to see the change after round 1. I’m gonna consider Simmo youf, he deserves a mention...

Charlie, fisher and sps all spiked. Simmo jumped into the top 100 again. Up to 90th. Crippa into the top 30 at 26.

Marchy and weits not real change.

Garlett went down...? :/
Oh they have? I checked but they didnt have the arrows so i assume they hadn't been updated yet.

I'll review and get an update up tomorrow night guys.

Charlie's next 12 games are additive, expecting a meteoric rise into the top 100 given his recent history of scores around 15 frequently.
Yep, the closer Charlie (and March et al) creep to 40 the more exponential their growth in these stats will be

I'd be more than rapt if Fish can give us 20 touches and a goal each week this year.
21 touches at 81% (17 effective). His heat map shows that most of those touches were in or around the middle. 377 metres gained, 8 score involvements, 5 inside 50s, 17 pressure acts.
And only 19yo and 18 games into his career. Great signs.

Huge improvement on his 2017 numbers. He'll just keep getting better as he builds more of a tank and fills out a bit. Looking forward to seeing what he can make of himself.

He's one guy whose upside I underestimated last season, despite obvious talent.

It's now clear to me that he has A-grade upside, a player which opposition teams will have to put serious work into to limit his influence on the outside.

We need to keep accumulating damaging outside players that can also win the football, such as Fisher, Samo and in time, O'Brien.

Well done Doc.

Some might be surprised to see Doc climb the rankings this week. Not me.

I haven't seen the replay of the Richmond match yet, but I can't recall him making a single clanger or poor decision.

Well, welcome back to game 45, of the 66 game rebuild. It feels crazy to say but we're on the home stretch, for this thread anyway. Only one more season to go any the "rebuild" will be over with. We had a big off season in the "youth" department. The acquisition of Matthew Kennedy was huge boon to our building midfield, and we made astute pick ups of formerly discarded players like O'Shea, Mullet, Garlett and Shaw who, for the purposes of this thread all manage to scrape into our "alumni" category (other than Garlett who makes it on his youthful-ness alone). We also drafted hard, selecting Paddy Dow and Lachie O'Brien inside the top 10. Tom De Koning and Angus Schumacher also have positive elements to them.

As usual, SEN inside football ratings are just garbage. So we're on AFL player ratings alone so far.Charlie Curnow is a star and the biggest riser of the week, while the ratings were very harsh on Paddy Dow (who somehow scored 0) and Caleb Marchbank who only edged forwards despite a great game. The ratings really don't rate Marchy for some reason. An average of 187.76 over 14 players is a huge result. While we're used to seeing the average AFL player ratings for our best 22 dip at the start of each season as new draftees re blooded, we boosted our scores from last year and look set to continue. It's a sign of the rebuilds' development that we are blooding less first gamers and building on our established youth more.

On to the individual performances.

I’ve said it before, but Patrick Cripps is an absolute phenom. Our contested bast picked up 36 disposals, including 25 contested possession to 8 games of more than 20 contested possessions within his first 60 games, twice more than any other person in history. He also too a game high 4 contested marks, imposing himself on the contest. He had 9 clearances, 7 tackles and 5 inside 50’s to top off a class game. Charlie Curnow arrived this week, he kicked 5 goals and made them all look easy. In total, Charlie had 19 disposals at 73% efficiency and looked a class above with 10 marks, four 1%ers, and 5 inside 50’s rounded out a great game. Caleb Marchbank was impressive down back, taking 6 marks including more than a handful of intercept possession. He collected 19 touches at 84% efficiency and was instrumental down back with eight 1%ers. How silky is Samo Petrevski-Seton, his ability to make the game look like a standstill in a pack is magical to watch, he had 16 touches, 4 marks, 2 clearances, 5 tackles and a goal. Jarrod Garlett made an impact in his return to football, the exciting half forward kicked 2 goals, had 3 inside 50’s and 17 touches. Zac Fisher looked very comfortable out there and found 21 possessions, including 3 clearances. He took us inside 50 five times and kicked a goal. Lachie Plowman didn’t have his usual impact on the game but didn’t do anything wrong which is what we expect from him. He had 5 marks and 8 1%ers from 13 possessions. Jed Lamb did some good things and some things which have supporters questioning his place in the side. He had 16 touches, 5 marks and 2 1%ers. Ciaran Byrne didn’t have the match many expected from him. While he tried to take the game on a lot, he was limited in output only finding it 14 times and going at a 50% efficiency rating. Aaron Mullet, who technically counts, don’t argue with me, looked okay and worked into the game in the second half. He disposed of the ball well, going at 82% efficiency but only had 16 touches and had 4 clangers. Paddy Dow did some wow things but it never came together. He will benefit from the run but only had 11 touches, without many effective disposals. Jacob Weitering played a negating role and couldn’t get near it. While he had 5 1%ers, he didn’t have a lot else. Jack Silvagni struggled to have an impact, only picking up 6 disposals and not much else. Unfortunately, Matt Kennedy was injured after collecting four disposals early and making a big impact, sending us inside 50 for our first goal.

Many of us predicted it. Some didn't want to listen. We are young... we lost gibbs and Docherty for this year. Thats a hell of a lot of awesomeness! Give them this year to get games. Unfortunately players like oshea, mullett etc need to be played. Obrien would be killed if he was to play 20 games this year.

Bolton must stay. They love him but our depth is nothing like people have stated. We are massively short in the midfield, forward line and ruck.

Stick fat. But this year won't be more than 6 wins and another bottom 4 finish. 2019 is when we rise

This rebuild is going backwards. I'm over Bolton.

What a ridiculous, knee-jerk thing to say after 1 - admittedly bad - loss. We were missing two of our three most important and senior players in Kreuzer and Doc. It was a shit show, but we are still extremely young and inexperienced. And our depth is still a long way off being remotely sufficient. But to say we are going backwards is absurd.

Today was shocking but last year we were carried by Gibbs, Kruezer, Murphy, Simpson and Doc. 3 of those 5 weren't playing today so these results are expected every now and than; and as long as it doesn't become a trend we will have to live with it.
After 7 wins from 35 games though this has to be the last season of accepting this crap

And yet the basket case GCS beat us, away from home. Not a knee jerk reaction, looking at 46 games under Bolton.

Suns have a better and way more experienced list than ours and it seems that they've finally found a really good coach. I'm not sure if you watched the JLT, but they are a very different side to previous years. Far more structured and disciplined. They will surprise a lot of teams this year.

So, given we beat them at the Gold Coast last year, one team has gone forward, the other back.

So, given we beat them at the Gold Coast last year, one team has gone forward, the other back.

We beat them when we had Gibbs (who just so happened to play the best game of his life), Doc, Kreuzer, but more importantly they had Eade at the helm, and the cancer that was GAblett creating all kinds of disharmony.

It's not apples for apples.

The point still stands. We've won one of our last 12. Hardly inspiring results.

We have that many young kids at our club, 46 games into the rebuild i currently view our team in a similar way to gws.

1st year = 2 wins. 2nd year = 1 win. 3rd year = 6 wins. 4th year 11 wins.

I can see why people are demanding wins or the coach to go. But fact is we are on a 66 game rebuild. After the 66 games we will still be bringing in kids but we will have a team that can hopefully grow together.

Put lynch in our forward line yesterday and we win. Our midfield is pretty bad and time and a few more players will help. Our backline was off yesterday and our forward line will be the hardest to fix.

Relax people. We will become a force before you know it

Not going backwards at all.

Hugely disappointing result but it’s another game into the kids. Cripps, Curnow, Fisher, SPS, Cuningham all played well.

There are always speed bumps along the way in a rebuild. This is not the first and it will not be the last.

Appreciate that many are disappointed but a bit of perspective never goes astray. It’s absurd to write off Bolton and the rebuild on the back of yesterday’s result.

It’s hard watching games like yesterday’s, but the reality is that our senior leadership is the worst in the league. When you trade out the likes of Gibbs, Tuohy etc. you are playing the long game whilst copping short term pain. We just don’t have the depth to cover injuries at the moment.

A lot of our youth are tracking very well. I’m starting to get a bit concerned about Weitering though, he had such an impressive start to his career, he’s just completely lost confidence at the moment and importantly, just doesn’t look to be enjoying his footy.
