Rich has polled for four consecutive rounds. If memory serves a few of us on this board were a bit worried about his consistency not too long ago.

Cheers for updating this, POBT.

Thanks for the update POBT:thumbsu:

Speaking for myself, I reckon there's keen interest in the much coveted BFLPOTY around these parts.

Keep up the good work.

I second this. Although I only vote if I have been able to view the game in it's entirety I am always interested in how others see things.

Where would we be without the 2008 draft?

I do find it hard to rank defenders (especially key defenders) and midfielders on the same scale.
Why? IMO they are more deserving when a midfield is being smashed in a game and they do a good job when under extreme pressue. Handing out votes based on possession count as this award seems to does nothing for me. 6 players on that list have not been playing better than Maguire and they are Rockliff, Black, Brown, Drummond, Adcock and Polec. I would suggest that the unappreciated Patfull has played constantly better than those that I have named. Debatably Rich could be included as behind Maguire. Golby even ahead of those named.

John, I didn't say defenders weren't as good.

Let me put it another way. The voting is like deciding who is the best athlete out of a swimmer and a bike rider. They perform completely different roles.

Our award might be flawed in that it favours midfielders. However, it wouldn't be the only footy award that does that. The could have a football category at the Logies and a defender wouldn't win it.

Leroy Jetta would win it.

Has anyone noticed on the AFL.com.au sites coach votes for each game, in any game we lose we are lucky to get even 1 of our players voted. But you flick through the other games and theres always a 60:40 or 70:30 mix? For us its 90:10 if were lucky...

That would be because we haven't had many close games. We tend to win or lose by big margins.

Out of interest, while Rich is running 3rd in the POTY counting, he has polled in the most number of games (8). Redden and Rockliff have both gained votes in 7 games.

Of the three, I think Rich is having the more consistent and arguably better season.

I definitely agree with that at this point of the year. Redden had quite a slow start to the year (I think there were even a few well-reasoned posts at the time suggesting he might be dropped for a game or two) but had been recovering well. Rockliff has been up and down compared to his games last year, partly I think due to his games up forward but also hasn't been quite as damaging in picking out a good option for making a quick clearance out of congestion unlike last year.

I wonder how many times Huddo has polled.

Usually pulls a 1 or 2.

4 times. Given he has finished 6th on at least two occasions and has missed games, he's definitely been one of our most consistent performers.
