Well done Fuey, its fair to say i screwed myself up though.
Got to smart for myself trying to analyse the opposition of my players instead of just picking a proven team.

Bad luck mate.

If it helps any, If I were you, I would've put in the same team as you did.

And Dallas Clark can have my first born if he wants... he's had massive games when the rest of my team is "down"...

Good win Fuey and bad luck Wiz!

Bailjumpers need Westbrook to slip over whilst running out onto the field for us to have a chance....can't see me holding off the 15 point lead.

You've made an excellent "repeat" chance this season. You didnt collapse like Mizza, you won the division and conference again, and you made it to the Conference final. Great management once again. You'll be a threat again next season I feel.

Thanks GG, once again, an unheralded BBJ squad proves that week to week management outshines superstar drafting (messrs Forte, Williams and Cassel helped out though).

Good luck with your on going player development program!:)

Ie, taking them all out to the firing squad.
Actually, i have 3-6 keepers now, and if i can finagle ways to re-draft them and improve my QB position, I could be in with a shot of a playoff next season.

I am pretty set on my keepers @ the moment, was struggling to sleep last night so had a good think.
Bush
Rivers
Slaton

With a question mark over Anquan Boldin, depends where he is playing.

Portis, Boldin will be on the trade table for sure guys so if your interested i'm willing to discuss.
My keepers suck.

Addai
Blank. I suppose Bryant's a bit of a gun right now. Not sure what round he was though. edit: looks like he wasnt picked up so will cost a 16th rounder?

I'll def be looking at 1 of those 5 players you mentioned. Maroney can go **** himself as can Palmer

Re: BFFFL #1 - Part 3

Here's the Svengali list, with the round each was drafted:

RB Willis McGahee 1
RB Earnest Graham 1
WR Chad Johnson 2
WR Torry Holt 3
QB Donovan McNabb 5
WR Calvin Johnson 5
RB Leon Washington 7
TE Heath Miller 7
RB Michael Turner 8
WR Vincent Jackson 10
RB Ladell Betts 11
K Robbie Gould 12
D/ST Jets 13
QB Tarvaris Jackson 15
QB Aaron Rodgers 16
WR Michael Jenkins 16
TE Martellus Bennett 16

I can't see myself keeping anyone that was drafted in the first 5 rounds, with the possible exception of Calvin Johnson so you can assure they're all tradeable.

At this stage I'm leaning towards keeping Calvin Johnson, Michael Turner, and Vincent Jackson but it'll have to wait until I know what's going on at QB with the Lions.

It's not hard to see why the Svengali struggled this year:

1st round McGahee
2nd round Chad Johnson
3rd round Torry Holt

what the hell was I thinking????

Re: BFFFL #1 - Part 3

I have a query on trades in this league.

Lets say i was offered a 2nd rounder for Portis.
Would i then get the 2nd round pick to go with the 2nd round pick i already have?
The person i trade with obviously gives me their 2nd round pick, would they then have to use their 3rd round pick to keep him?

This was discussed intensely last off-season because there's a problem in the system. Which no one was prepared to listen to me.

In your scenario what will happen is this...

You would receive a 2nd rounder, to go with your existing 2nd rounder.
The person you traded with would get Portis BUT needs to use that 2nd round pick of his in order to KEEP Portis.
So he would have to use his 3rd rounder to keep Portis.
So that trade WILL NEVER HAPPEN because the person would lose a 2nd round AND a third round pick!
They'll instead wait till you cut him, not keep him, and simply draft him with ONE pick.

That's why there needs to be a re-think on the trade rules.

The only way you will be able to trade Portis is if you and the person you're trading with exchange 8 other picks to balance it all out for each other.

Re: BFFFL #1 - Part 3

Wizards Warriors list:

1. Reggie Bush
2. Clinton Portis
3. Anquan Boldin
4. Phillip Rivers
5. Kevin Curtis
6. Tony Scheffler
7. Giants DST
8. Jake Delhomme
10. LenDale White
11. LJ Smith
14. Brett Favre
15. Steve Slaton
U. Brandon Lloyd
U. Cedric Benson
U. Davone Bess
U. Greg Camarillo

All are tradeable excep Steve Slaton, unless your offering a 1st round pick and then i may think about it.
Just took Camarillo from FA incase someone wants to take him off my hands for a cheap upgrade in the later rounds.

so what's wrong with trading Portis and your 2nd rounder for the other person's 2nd rounder and then agreeing the other [real] terms of the trade? I think that's what you're suggesting above but I'm not sure

Re: BFFFL #1 - Part 3

There is a fundamental probelm with trading prior to assignment of keepers.

If i use the Bailjumpers for example.....

I could choose to keep Forte (1st), Romo (2nd), Moss (3rd),
Before official keeper deadline, trade Williams for a 1st, Cassell for a 3rd
Trade my orginal 1,2,3 picks for a package(s) of alternate picks.

I believe the rules are you give up the next available pick of your own (not traded for) for all your keepers....I could effectively give up a 4th, 5th and 6th round pick for Forte, Romo and Moss.

...actually this doesnt sound like a bad off season strategy.

Only sensible approach in my mind is to prevent trading until after keepers are assigned.

Re: BFFFL #1 - Part 3

Sven...

Because there's no point to it.
Wizard's 2nd Round pick could be 4/16 in order.
GG's 2nd round pick could be 12/16.

So, GG receives Portis and to keep him blows the 4/16 2nd rounder.
While, Wizard swaps a 4/16 pick for a 12/16 pick in the 2nd round.

What did either achieve? Nothing.

The only way trades will occur is if there's some huge compensation deal involving 8 picks between each other getting swapped around here and there.

Like the trade Sven and GG made with Russell. Russell was on Sven's roster and GG wanted to trade for him to keep him. It wasn't a simple process at all, and involved swapping about 10 picks.

The example you give illustrates another loophole/problem in the trade mechanism.

If I go back to the locked thread from last year when i had this argument with Dspeed, I will find the proposals I offered then, because i cant remember them exactly but im sure they offered good simple solutions.

......
So in effect you could do the following:

1. Agree to swap 2nd round picks
2. Trade for Portis
3. then agree the real terms of the trade ie a 3rd rounder or something like that

the end result is that Wizard ends up with his original 2nd rounder and an additional 3rd rounder whereas you end up with Portis and use your original 2nd round pick to keep him.

Now I'm not suggesting they'd be the real terms of a deal, I'm just using it as an example of how it might happen.

Re: BFFFL #1 - Part 3

Personally my strategy last year will be the same going forward...pick your best three regardless of draft position and try and secure the 1st pick in the waiver order and wait for some fantasy stud to go down and then take his backup (Brady/Cassell).

Re: BFFFL #1 - Part 3

I'll BRB because it's gonna take some digging to find the proposal from last year.
So I will post it here as soon as i find it, so that we can re-assess it. Because I've completely forgotten what it was...it might suck, or it might be good.
