Re: BigFooty Fantasy Football League

Next year, perhaps a tweaking of the rules around squad list, amount of starters required, how many rounds of drafting there are, and therefore more room for trade deals, future trade deals.

As is, there's a mandatory 9 required for starting, and maximum 6 bench, but the make up of that squad could be 6 WRs, or 6 RBs. Someone therefore would end up without a TE.

Maybe, if there's a mandatory minimum squad of 14 players, consisting of minimum 2 qb, 3 rb, 3 wr, 2 te, 2 dst, 2 k....that actually is your starting team and your reserves all there. starters is just 1 qb, 2 rb, 2 wr, 1 te, 1 dst, 1 k.

8 starters 6 bench minimum mandatory. But....there are actually perhaps 20 rounds of drafting, especially if we include an expansion team or two. In those extra draft rounds, people can draft more than the mandatory minimum or stay on the mandatory minimum.

In the end...I might have 20 players selected, while someone else only 15, because they either traded away 2 picks for 1, or they elected to release some in the FA period.

In the end...each person has a mandatory minimum of 14, 8 starters, 6 bench, but can have theoritically 20 or even 24 players on his list if he so chooses to draft all the way thru and/or accept trade deals where people trade him a spot for 3 of theirs.

It also ensures that every team has to have a minimum 2 TEs, DST and K, because if one gets injured or whatever, then they're not left without a TE, DST or K. Currently tho, for instance, i dont have to have 2 DST, or 2 TE.

actually 9 starters and 7 bench

if someone doesnt draft a TE, their fault, they cant then use another position in its place

didnt you already post some of this before aswell?! as i said earlier, no one should be made to have 2 K or 2 DST or 2 TE, thats just plain stupid in my opinion, we are leaving it at a squad of 16 with the 9 starting spots, i dont see the need to stuff around with it

Ie...I'm not complaining about the current rules etc. It's all fine! But just opening the door to forethought about possible tweakings to those rules to give more of an expansive nature to drafting/management for NEXT years season.

Re: BigFooty Fantasy Football League

lol, while i think of it, you mentioned expansion teams, this isnt going to happen, 16 is the max IMO for fantasy leagues, orignally i wanted 12 but we moved to 16, the way in which someone like Sven might become involved is if someone for some reason drops out, either have a sook or simply cannot commit the time to it, Sven or someone else could then take over that team
Geez, I'm glad you said that.

Sounds like an agenda item for the off-season GM love-fest.

Or you could just go the Al Davis route and sue the league! :D

why bother is my opinion, dont see how one team having 14 and another team having 10456 players is good or better then the current 16 per team, pople shouldnt be made to draft 2 TE or 2 K, if they dont then they take the risk of an injury or of forgoing a position during the bye week, thats their perogative, i dot think these tweakings are needed, starts to get out of hand, to be honest i think some times tweakings are just done for the sake of it to fill in time (see AFL rules committee, what was wrong with the game 10 years ago!?), 16 players, you must draft a starting lineup, maximums of 3 QB 6 RB 6 WR 3 TE 2 DST 3 K, thats it, simply, why have it any other way with different size squads etc

Just dont think Im complaining about the rules etc. I'm fine with them.

But as all things, things change or ideas pop up, and we adapt to make things either a bit more interesting or a bit more fair or whatever. Certain things might pop up during the season or in hindsight that makes the Commish think HMMM a slight change is required for some reason.

Im just making convo.

Re: BigFooty Fantasy Football League

Wouldnt mind knowing where everyone had Porter on their WR lists?
I wasn't going to take him only because I don't trust him to actually perform not talk. However, supposedly he's going to be the main target, and a lot made to keep him happy. So, if he's happy he could finally perform in the new Raider scheme. Wait n see I guess, but not a bad selection at all given he'll be the #1 target. He's bound to produce the 700-ish yards.

Had him ranked number 40 on my list, so to pick him up as the 51st WR taken its a good pick. He's in an interesting position in that he was disliked by Art Shell and hardly got a start last year. Could return to his 2005 form this year under a new coach. I would say he'll start the FF year as a backup, but could become a starter given the right set of circumstances. I'd rate him boom or bust.

I was tossing up between him and Curry.

Curry is an interesting one and I thought I could bank on him getting enough looks. Porter has more upside but he also has a bigger downside (imo)

Once I'd taken Curry, I thought about Porter with my next pick. I wasn't prepared to take both at this stage because you rarely play two starters from the same team (imo) - especially one like Oakland. Maybe the Colts but not the Raiders. Their passing game is a complete unknown and could turn out to be anything from shocking to very good.

If he'd been there with my next pick I probably would have taken him.

I reckon he'll start if he's got his head right. He's the best receiver now on their roster but since Moss has gone he's probably the biggest pain in the butt too.

Shut and play and he'd be #1 receiver on most teams.

BTW marcuz, I've got a bone to pick with you.

You've allowed this board to descend into some sort of pseudo love-in.

I thought this sort of civility was against company policy?

Maybe it's time for a thread on whether a druggie like Michael Irvin should be allowed in the Hall of Fame? :)

haha

See what happens when Bigfooty's best looking and most relaxed mod runs a board himself. I ain't a supermod for nothing.;)

To continue the free love orgy i must say its a pleasure to mod this board, NFL fans must be genetically superior or somethin' as i havent had to boot anybody in nearly three years. A bigfooty record, one which ODN"s hates me for:D
