Re: BigFooty Fantasy Football League

Mizza has been on the clock for about 13 hours, not that much really, i think the record is about 31 hours by Vick, no real hurry at the moment IMO, sure if it gets to 48 or 72 hours we might start thinking but at the moment i'm not fazed, if something does come up though as i have said earlier we may get someone like Sven to pick for him, at the moment though it is fine, although i am worried about Mizza, this league was intended to create talk and such, and on the whole most are but Mizza has something like 1 post on this thread, i really do want more from league members, you dont have to be on 24/7,but i wouldnt mind if he dropped in to talk occasionally
IN: Sven

OUT: Mizza

:p

But I dont have a problem if it slows down because we've done 143 picks in 25 days, and only 113 picks to go with still 90 days until the season starts

yeh exactly, i too have exams at the moment so won't be on quite as much as i have been recently, i also have a feeling the Miz has exams at the moment
Busy boy. Hope he is at least wearing his Chargers kit to let everyone know he has a fantasy draft commitment, lots of things on his mind. Does he take a kicker or does to go with a third string RB? His classmates better realise he is UNDER THE PUMP more than they are.

Re: BigFooty Fantasy Football League

great minds think alike :thumbsu: btw awesome side
yeah its damn interesting... people jumping on DEF and K's early and often and then I take Akers and Carolina at the end.... plus Norwood.

probably only 4 or 5 guys were on, the rest were auto drafts from what I could gather. Some chump was getting into me then went on to pick Romo in the 3rd round.

I've seen at least in yahoo some people offering $10 to $100 to enter a league and winner takes all etc... I might consider that closer to the season considering we generally cant participate or win prizes in the FF comps

a few points though...

how many teams in this league, from the look of it i am thinking maybe 10 or 12, so that changes things immensely, getting carolina and akers at the end of a 10 team league draft for instance would mean they would be going about now in our draft (ie around 140), so its all relative

norwood a good pick but i felt he was taken too early in our draft anyway

fact that some were autodrafting makes it very difficult to accurately measure IMO, autdrafting doesnt allow the best team to be picked so of course the livedrafters will end up with better teams

also a point i want to make, just because in one league DSTs or Ks or TEs or whatever position start being taken at a certain time doesnt mean tat that is the round they should always be taken, every draft is different and it is what the market demands, if people start taking DSTs earlier then i would like i am not necessarily going to overlook them because i think it is too early, if my strategy is to get a good DST then i should probably take one even if it is a round or two earlier then i planned, fact is that if a majority start doing it most of the other non-DSTs will still be there next time around, i am a big believer that you cannot have one draft strategy that you stick to all the time, you have to go with each one individually, sure, ideally you might go RB RB WR RB WR QB RB TE WR DST WR RB K....or whatever, but the individual nature of the draft requires you to change, that is why i don't always think it is necessarily such a bad thing to take a DST early, a move danielz is so against

anyway that is my rant for the day, lol

Re: BigFooty Fantasy Football League

In order to beat the official record, Mizza needs to not make his pick before 7.09 PM tonight, the current record for longest time on the clock is held by Vick<Footy and stands at 33 hours and 36 minutes, good luck in going after this prestigious record Mizza! :D

Re: BigFooty Fantasy Football League

Then again lets have a look at Mizza's Nuts

MIZZA'S NUTS

Tom Brady QB NE
Steve Smith WR CAR
Marshawn Lynch RB BUF
Marques Colston WR NO
Donte Stallworth WR NE
Randy McMichael TE StL
San Diego DST
Chad Jackson WR NE

From a keeper perspective Steve Smith, Marshawn and Marques appeal, however would you give up rounds 2,3, and 4 to keep them? I think not....

BTW - does Mizza get first pick of undrafted players after week1?

Draft Analysis

There's nothing happening this weekend so I start my draft analysis now......

Mizza (and his Nuts)

Picks 16, 17, 48, 49, 80, 81, 112, 113, 144, 145 (no trades)
Selection order QB, WR, RB, WR, WR, TE, DST, WR
16. Tom Brady QB
17. Steve Smith WR
48. Marshawn Lynch RB
49. Marques Colston WR
80. Donte Stallworth WR
81. Randy McMichael TE
112. San Diego DST
113. Chad Jackson WR

The star appeal of Tom Brady resulted in a bad decision in round 1, should have taken RB Laurence Maroney instead
After the brain fade in round 1, Steve Smith (round 2), Marshawn Lynch (round 3) and Marques Colston (round 4) were all solid picks
Against the grain took a third WR in the 5th round, when RBs Jamal Lewis and Brandon Jackson were still available
Running against the tide of fantasy football success, took a TE in the 6th round when RBs Jamal Lewis and Brandon Jackson were available
Took the 3rd ranked Chargers in round 7 and then reached for Chad Jackson in the 8th

There is only one rule in fantasy footbal - get your starting RBs as early as possible - Mizza decided that this rule is for chumps, after 8 rounds he still hasn't the 2 starters required.

The one advantage of being at the end of the draft is that you've got 2 picks in a row and the chance to jump on other peoples mistakes, unfortunately it looks like Mizza didn't have the skills to maximise his opportunity. As a result of this it looks like 2007 will be a learning exercise for the youngster from Adelaide.

The good news for Mizza is that it looks like the Australian Conference is the weaker of the two leagues, with dspeed, JD, and Cassius fighting it out in the BFC

Overall Grade - D (better luck next year)

Keep you chin up mate - it can only go up from here......

Re: BigFooty Fantasy Football League

you give Mizza a D and overall rate his draft pretty poorly yet a few days ago ranked him 10th! ahead of the likes of Briscoe who i actually rate quite highly (SA and Ronnie Brown isn't a bad one two punch!), lol, i'd put Mizza 17th (daylight 16th)

My ranking depended on whether or not he could pick up an RB - geez I gave him my 2 highest ranking RBs (apart from Lendale who might get 0) yesterday. Lets see if he can make a choice.....

BTW - I choose the right to give as many Ds as I see fit. All those rated below Mizza should take that as a warning.....

Re: BigFooty Fantasy Football League

Desperate for help and looking for a miracle at running back, Mizza takes Dominic Rhodes, RB, OAK and Kenny Irons, RB, CIN with picks 144 and 145.

Sorry, just thinking out loud!
I picked them yesterday and still stand by my picks - take em Mizza!

Re: BigFooty Fantasy Football League

sshhhh, mizza can decide on his own!:D anyway, two backup RBs arent going to help his predicament that much!
Its the classic scatter gun approach - if I can get as many backup RBs as possible, someones got to be OK - OK?

as far as i am concerned Mizza doesnt deserve any help holding us up this long, lol, let him reach for someone again ala Chad Jackson (officially the worst pick in the history of fantasy football)

Now there's a challenge - who would be the biggest reach of the draft, and I'm talking all 16 rounds

My choice Todd Lowber (WR Vikings) - he hasn't actually played a single down in his life, not in high school, not in college - and the Vikings have him on their list.

Re: BigFooty Fantasy League Draft Thread

The problem is that most everyone has no clue who is left at this point, which means that they have to take time to find a cheat sheet, find some one they like and then check the list to see if they've been taken, rinse and repeat until they find a free agent they can pick up. Anyone working and with a busy home life on top of that doesn't have time to deal with this on a day to day basis. Which in the end is why we should have waited till we could have had a live draft and everyone had a player list on screen for rapid selection. I'm all but convinced this draft is completely dead in the water at this point, and it will blow my mind if it is finished before the end of July.

My .02 would be to close the draft at the end of Round 9 after Mizza's pick, and once the online leagues open, and we choose one, we can finish the draft online.
The league host in almost every league has the ability to remove players from the draft board and place them on a teams roster.
I would suggest that we join a league, have the league host place the selections from the first 9 rounds onto the individual teams, and then continue our draft online at round 10.
