Good for North to get one over Melton, particularly after a heavy loss down there.
It's shaping as a pretty good finals series.
Hey BJ, How do clubs in this league compete with North Ballarat with there facilities, set up and budget?
I recall the days they were a powerhouse in country footy until they moved to the VFL. Is it going to occur again?

Given the amount of money poured into the facilities, there'd be few, if any, local clubs on par from that stand point.
Otherwise we're no different to other clubs & that's the beauty of this comp.
It's comparatively even & you don't need a squad of ex-AFL/VFL types to be competitive.

Yes north have some great facilities but on the flip side a lot of players love the old country feel with the cars on the boundary etc. North have also lost the reputation at junior level. Not in a growth zone and next to lakers they can only field 9 reserves and 11 reserves. Gone are the day where they would attract players from all over Ballarat and the central highlands. Not saying this is there fault but just a society change.

Much of the appeal was the often misguided belief that by playing at the club, players would get the inside run to make Rebels or Roosters squads.
Like with all clubs though, we've got to continue to win over hearts & minds of the next generations of potential footballers.

100% agree. The big appeal was how the juniors were run and the culture.

Do you know what the story is mate ? I know a few of their ex vfl players came to South because of Conway. Doesn’t bode well for the club moving forward.

Apparently retirement. Struggled to commit from the get go, due to work (he owns a Gym in town). Probably not a bad thing for south saving that coin for the rest of the year.

Don’t know how Darley finish above East and have to play them in Ballarat not at Melton. League looking after their own again. ???

That’s just the way it goes. Finals Venues were announced a month ago.
In 2018 Bacchus marsh finished above Darley and had to play them at Darley park. So devils can’t really complain.

Yes , but the league gave Bacchus Marsh the option of playing the game in Ballarat at Eastern or City ovals. Since 2009 first, third and fourth on the ladder have played their finals in Ballarat or at Darley. So I do think they can feel hard done buy. The game should be at Melton.

Some just have persecution complexes.
Darley are more than capable of getting it done in Ballarat, something that I'm all too aware of..

Suprised they didn’t take up the option to play it in Ballarat, considering the stink they kicked up

Disappointing end to the year for north, didn’t give much. Maybe redan probably better finishing 6th, they finished the year with good momentum. Rumour Marsh sacked coach?
Bloods too good

German ‘stepped away’
Not a huge shock, heard murmurs around town past few weeks. They finished the season pretty ordinary. Apparently issues with the committee

Congrats to Sebast.
It was a reasonably even contest for much of the game until the game opened up in the 3rd with the Burras class shining through.
The usual suspects Hutt, Hill, Cassidy etc were good.
Lockyer going down with injury is a concern, hopefully it's minor.
Disappointing way for the season to end from a North perspective.
