And in what part of my post did I question his character??
I simply stated what those coaches have openly said to all and sundry. It’s no secret.

You said he made his intentions clear he was chasing players from Sunbury..That’s not true. In fact didn’t he stay involved in coaching a junior side at his old club??

My point is you have put both these coaches into the same comments. That’s poor to put both into the same basket..One has been a respected senior coach for a number of years and the other hasn’t.

Yep Definitely chasing players from Sunbury
Just announced a new Player from Sunbury on Facebook.

1 player who played mostly reserves due to work commitments I believe. That’s not recruiting/chasing players in my book. I guess we see things way differently. If you think recruiting one player ( well 2 over 2 years) from your previous club is doing wrong gee whiz!!

No it wasn’t work commitments, so incorrect there.
As I said in my initial post, intentions have been made very clear and the chase has been in full swing with many players having been contacted.
Fortunately a lot have stayed loyal.

Haha you’re not that close then to this situation. Why was his playing reserve footy then??

Can’t wait to hear the answer?

Not sure the coach of Souths rep is what it used to be, certainly not externally from other bfl clubs. But that doesn’t really matter anymore, he’s in a much lesser league now.

Some big names coming into the league in 2025 add a bit of interest. Hind, Touhy, Biggie etc. Plus the new even fixture. Teams playing South twice over the last decade or more certainly gave them a leg up, often deciding finals positions.

Looking forward to the year ahead.

Cheers mate. Wondered about the back oval

If it’s possible, the back oval is even windier than Mars! At a junior match I attended last year, there was a shot at goal which almost went through at half post height, which then bent back and landed in the goal square.
In my experience, the juniors use the back oval and the seniors have played on it in pre-season, but not during the H&A season. As mentioned above, North’s home games are fixtured around AFL & Rebels with, I believe, a 3 week embargo period of no games or training before AFL matches.

North refuse to play on the back oval and are happy to compromise their fixture with multiple games in a row away from home to fit around Talent league and TV league usage. They have also approached opposition clubs to ask for Sunday games to allow access to the main oval.
It's a crap venue for local football with nobody in the outer for almost half the ground. Watching players climb the fence to retrieve a football because there's nobody within 80m is far from ideal. Might be a great facility but it's shit house for local footy games.
Situated on top of a hill, it's a venue where games are negatively impacted by wind and the size of the main grandstand means a large section of the wing and flanks doesn't get any direct sunlight. Unlike the MCG and Docklands, the Northern Oval does not have any artificial lighting systems to help the grass grow and, more importantly, dry the ground adequately. Watching players constantly slipping over on the grandstand wing does not enhance the games.
The difficulty of working with the North Ballarat FC and North Ballarat Sports Club has resulted in the Ballarat FNL playing their last two GFs at the City Oval.
But aside from those couple of minor issues, it's a great venue...

Dumb question but popped into my head whilst driving past earlier.

Do North play home games on Mars stadium?
Yes mate, there's a couple of week blackout ahead of AFL games.

Grimmett - the issue with finals was due to liquor licensing. Rather than sorting something out the league opted for an alternate venue.

With upgrades coming for the second oval, it should be a viable alternative for home games.

We agree the issue was liquor licensing but I'm it seems we disagree why that issue couldn't be resolved.
The No.2 Oval is actually quite suitable for home games already. Can get cars parked around it, has en electronic scoreboard, nets behind the goals at both ends. Rooms aren't currently up to standard but as North would aim to use the main oval facilities and give the visitors the whole setup at the back oval, it's fine.
Even with upgrades to the second oval I don't believe North will ever want to play anywhere except on the main oval, so it becomes irrelevant how much improvement is done at the No 2.

Any knowledge of how Sunbury went against Essendon VFL

Was a good hit out in tough hot conditions. Sunbury held their own for the first half then fitness and class took over second half as things got thrown around, which was to be expected.
A very good relationship developing between the 2 clubs which is great for community football. Essendon were terrific hosts

Correct. North No 2 is used for junior fixtures only.
