My understanding is that it is to be a league separate to both the RDFL and BFL, it'll be interesting to see what comes of it.
Will be very interested in seeing the outcome as I play at one of these teams ! Would be good getting away from Ballarat

So what's this new league going to be called ? Riddle div 1 ??? Then. Have a div 2 ?
Goldfields
3 or 4 ex Ballarat
3 or 4 ex central highlands/Marlborough Castlemaine
2 sunbury area
2 or 3 Melton/Bacchus marsh area
All clubs to have at least 16s, 18s, senior reserves and netball
It will depend on whether management wants 10 or 12 clubs
Salary cap double district leagues with 50 points
District leagues to have 10 clubs and 40 points
This will give around 6 district leagues feeding goldfields.

Won't work. There will be massive resistance from the CHFL clubs. The likes of Springbank, Bungaree and Hepburn won't be able to field extra Junior teams and will be dead against the splitting of their teams within the club. Buninyong potentially the only CHFL club with the potential to move to a Ballarat setup.

I have to agree

I was standing over the fence, directly behind Drew Edwards when it happened. He is a cowardly footballer, and I think you'd find Grant Wright and the majority of the Darley supporter base would agree. As would his tribunal record. I've heard he is a nice enough guy off-field but you can't hit someone in the face for laying a bump. Whilst I'm at it, may I ask who did the racial abusing? I'm from Lakers and that's the first I've heard of it.
Well Pauline would you call your own nick peters a cowardly f

well Pauline would you call your own nick peters a cowardly footballer. Against Melton elbows an unsuspecting player in the face, has to front the tribunal and gets a very lucky weeks suspension and then on the weekend forearms an unsuspecting redans nick Sullivan to the face and knocks him out. But there's more, has to front the tribunal again and gets, wait for it, another week because he pleaded guilty and showed remorse. Tribunals a massive joke and no wonder the eastern teams think they cheat. And for Scott Carey to be in his position is a massive conflict of interest.

It is more than a joke, is just plain corrupt.

How about a few weeks ago when the North City coach got reported twice, one for striking and one for headbutting. Found guilty of both and copped one week for each. I have no doubt any player from the East even with a clean record would walk out with 5 or 6 weeks.

cheating

Doesn't matter what the tribunals do really as blokes over here are getting 5 or so weeks and then appealing and having them reduced. Its all a complete joke if you ask me

They won't get a say in it. AFL Goldfields will decide who goes where and who's in div1 and div2 when they take over the poorly run CHFL. Biggest shake up in football for years.
Don't get me wrong, the CHFL admin leave plenty to be desired in certain areas, but at least its a competition thats still got a soul. The corporate entity that is the Ballarat Footy League is becoming less and less appealing to spectators by the season, despite the footy being of a higher standard.

The most popular stories read on the courier webpage each week are CHFL, not BFL. That tells you everything.

So in summation,
Lakers player gets suspended - Eastern supporters whinge.
North City player/coach gets suspended - Eastern supporters whinge.

Correct both times. Don't sit there and truthfully say it doesn't stink. Peters had to front the tribunal, couldn't take the set penalty and they slap him with a wet lettuce. Didn't see burkes incidents so can't comment, but a week for both seems lenient?

Whinge at how the Ballarat sides get a way with murder, jarrah from Bacchus marsh hip and shoulder a bloke from east point that got up and was walking around before jarrah had even left the ground, nick peters cheap shot elbows the Redan player knocks him out cold, and they both get the same punishment, that what eastern side whinge about

"When players plead guilty and show remorse the tribunal do look at that favourably,” BFNL operations manager Scott Carey said.

Next time I hold up a bank, I'll remember to show remorse so I get a lighter sentence

Exactly.BNFL operations manager and lake wendouree footballer. Massive conflict of interest. Where are you Pauline? Stick up for cowardly peters.

Absolute farce the BFL Tribunal. No way you can put a spin on it any other way. Check out the video online at the Courier.

BlueJet, I usually don't mind your comments, but that last one is just showing your Ballarat bias. Can you honestly say that if a Darley or Sunbury player did the same thing, went to the tribunal and plead guilty, they would only get 1 week. No way. Also, doesn't a players past history come into account when sentencing. Don't know Peters record prior to this year, but a second report for head high this year - this bloke should go out and buy a tattslotto ticket.

Did Horbury turn his head, see his teammate motionless on the ground, but continue to run off?

This is same club that lied their faces off in the tribunal early this year with two 'eye' witnesses with conflicting stories and made themselves look like idiots. But still even with liars giving evidence and wasting everybody's time the Darley player still got 2 weeks

I have no love for the eastern teams but have to agree that they get a raw deal at the kangaroo court tribunal so they have good reason to whinge. Still paying for sins of the past it seems.

I didn't as we all know the tribunal is pretty poor, I merely commented on the incessant whinging that goes on.

Some BFL games are like going to a funeral. You are right, CHFL clubs won't have a bar of it and AFL Goldfields can't force them to do anything. This crap comes up every 5 years or so and dies a rapid death. Has the Riddell league got suddenly stronger? The 4 eastern clubs that came in to the BFL did so because they were too strong for the RDFL yes? What has changed? Daylesford and Beaufort couldn't cut it in the BFL so ran away to CHFL where they have both been successful and will both play finals this year, do they go back to BFL to get thumped again? The idiots at AFL Goldfields couldn't starve an African. They have no idea.

No bias here, obviously I'm from North but I've had family & friends play at Sunbury/Marsh so I know that they cop the rough end of the stick - which I wasnt even commenting on fwiw.
Regardless of divisions or future splits I think that it's in everyones interest that the BFL tribunal is reviewed as there's way too many discrepancies.

Downtroden, I owe you an apology... unfortunately I have a family, work commitments and friends I like socialising with... I'm sorry I don't have ample enough time to sit on footballing blogs each night and get back to your queries earlier.

Fortunately for us, we were certainly on the receiving end of a very lenient penalty from the tribunal. The club spoke at length Monday and believed that a best case scenario would have been 2 weeks. However, I'm not sure there's much merit comparing the two incidents (Peters & Edwards') when a) Sullivan admitted in the tribunal that it was his intention to bump Nick high - and said he believed the elbow from Peters wasn't intended to get him so high - merely protect himself from the bump; and b) Edwards' incident was a pre-meditated coward punch 30m off the ball.

And while you believe it's the Ballarat clubs that get favourable treatment from the tribunal it certainly seems to be only Darley that cops the rough end of the stick. I know Grant has done a power of work trying to improve the club's on and off-field standards, but it only takes one incident for the club to take ten steps back. It doesn't help when Edwards goes out every game and does something brash.

I couldn't care less about his persona off the field but when he stands on the back of a 17-year-old and spits in the back of their head - word travels around. The MRP aren't deaf and incidents like that travel fast - and would almost certainly strengthen any preconceived ideas the MRP already had about a particular club. That's only one incident I've named and I'll be happy to list some more if you'd like.

It's often the people who say "I have the worst luck" are the ones making the bad decisions. And to me it seems that by and large Darley it's people complaining all the time. Something to consider.

Well first let me thank you for finding the time to reply. Once again drew Edwards is your whipping boy with no mention if Anderson hadn't knocked drew over 50 meters off the ball he wouldn't have got hit. Anderson also got straight up and played the rest of the game. Don't think Sullivan knew what day it was.My main grip was that you called him cowardly when both of peters actions were worse. Anderson told the tribunal the force was a two out of ten, but your assistant lied and said he couldn't sleep thinking about the force of the blow. Give me a break.Drew also pleaded guilty . Your two assistants told lies but he still got two because of his record. I hope if peters reoffends this year it's before the grand final because I want to see how they put spin on giving him a reprimand. And it does only take one incident to put your club back ten steps, so right now your clubs back twenty steps. And as for being busy with friends, you had plenty of time to rag on Drew early in the year. You know the old saying people in glass houses. Hope your not too busy working or socialising to reply.
