With round 1 this Saturday thought I might have a go at putting together a ranking list.

1. Darley, have added quality, covered losses.
2 B-marsh, looking stronger than last year.
3 North City, quietly built a solid list.
4. Melton sth look to have improved slightly
5. East Point, could be a surprise, young.
6. Sunbury, never count them out
7. Sebas, better, but depth an issue?
8. Melton. Might just miss finals.
9. Ballarat, maybe slightly better than 17.
10. Redan, decimated list from2017
11. Lakers, lost 15 or so, added little.

Hate to say it, but the Smokey might be North.
This is my 6.
Marsh
Darley
Sunbury
North
East
South

Have not had a good look at the draw but that will decide who finishes below marsh and Darley.

This week:
Marsh to beat Darley
Sunbury over Redan
South over Bloods
East over Ballarat
North over Sebas

ive heard Marcus Darmody from north out for 12 weeks with hamstring
Kicked 70 in 17-games for Koroit in the Hampden league last year, so that's a huge loss.
Just wondering about Sebas, did anyone find out the full extent of the points concessions they've received for this year? Did some of their VFL recruits have their points discounted?

They get 48 points total. 3 more than the 2 Melton clubs and 5 more than the rest. Individual players don't get point discounts.

So a VFL player that has played with another Ballarat club would be 5-points plus a penalty point for changing clubs, so 6-points? Is that correct?

Good question. Not 100% sure but sounds about right. Does it depend how long ago they played with the opposing club?

Yes but Lachy Cassidy will probably get 6.

It will be interesting what they are. I reckon Sebas will claim that Hausler and Cassidy are coming from VFL, so 5 points. They will then try to burn the candle at the other end and say Keeble and Austin have been their players, so 3 and 4 (or however how long they have played). I reckon keep it simple, all of them 5 as coming from VFL and its wrong if the above occurs and questions should be asked. Only way player loses points is if they played 5 games in 1 year at that club.

Cassidy 5
Austin 5 (played afl previously
Keeble 4 being his home club for a few years
Hausler 4 only play 7 vfl games in his whole life
And Lockyer 1

My guess,
Cassidy 6
Austin 5
Hausler 5
Keeble 4
Add Goodes who would still be 4 and Hoy & Huppatz 3? each - possibly some others on more than 1 means it will be tight.

Nah. Under the rules they should be 5 all bar Lockyer. Keeble was somewhere else last year anyway. Without checking hausler played more than 5 I reckon in his first year of VFL. A club could have a player (and not play) as a home club for 4 years and they be a one pointer (that’s stupid). If they use the home club reason for Keeble and Austin then they should expect to cop the home club for Cassidy and hausler and they become 6. You see what I mean they can’t have it both ways.

Yeah fair points. I forgot Keeble was back at Boort last year.
If Huppatz & Hoye have left it helps with points but big losses on the field

Think they are being lenient with the points on sebas, cause if sebas don't win at least 2 games this season there being kicked out of the league this is the last chance.

Yeah don’t think they will have to be concerned to much about points. I would be interested in East Points more. Palmer 6 Johnson 5 Johnston 4 lovig 4 Mcqueen 3 ovatavi 4 Brown 4 dawborn 3 lee 3 Semmens 2. 38 points 10 players. And that’s not even looking at other some other less known ones.

True, although they probably will never all be available at the same time

No mate. If a VFL player nominates a home feeder club but doesn’t play a certain number of games at that home club the points are NOT reduced each year. Doesn’t work that way, sorry.

Will be 5 points..

Yeah correct. That’s exactly what I said. Sounds l

so you agree with me turbo as that’s what I’m trying to say as well. All 5.

Didn’t think of East Point, but you’re right they look closest to being over their 43-point cap. Especially when the Northern Blues have a bye this week, so I presume J Johnson and Palmer play. Might have a couple of 3-pointers running around in the 2’s this week!

This is what I found on points:

5.3.1. Category 6 – AFL Player – 6 Points Player who has played a minimum of one AFL game in any of the current or previous three (3) Seasons.

(This seems very harsh, just 1-AFL game 3-years ago gives a player 6-points. Don’t we want AFL players at our local clubs? Or is this so they go to the VFL?)

5.3.2 Category 5 – State League Tier One – 5 Points Player who has played a minimum 5 senior games of VFL, WAFL or SANFL in any of the current or previous three (3) seasons.

6.1. If a player transfers to a Community Club and will be competing against their immediate former Community Club, (except Category 2 - Development Community Players) an additional one point penalty will apply.

So based on 6.1 Hausler, Cassidy and Matt Johnson all have 6-points.
