Well I'm just gonna say I don't think Shuey ducks for free kicks. Maybe he has his reputation for a reason (I know I've cringed at some frees he has been paid in the past), but with the second one the other night that led to a goal, he played on after the after the contact and didn't accentuate it. The fact that he didn't even hesitate for a moment before playing on suggests he wasn't expecting to be paid it.

So why bend the knees at all then? Lowering your centre of mass makes it way easier to change direction. I'm not sure how you can possible expect players not to do something that makes them more agile, just because people don't like seeing free kicks result from it occasionally and then whinge that they were playing for it.

And that's not even to mention that for the first one that led to a goal he was picking up the ball - what's he supposed to do? Stand there and spectate like the rest of our mids?

He's not the most reliable kick Lynchy but he has most other attributes covered. Plus he's quite young still

Calling him the best in the comp is hyperbole though

Any idea on the time they have this segment?
i said segment with quotations cos they started the segment, read one stupid comment, blasted it, and then came back to another stupid comment/person15 minutes later, blasted it, and then again about 15 minutes later... so the so called segment isn't really together.

I can understand that. His side is doing so bad, yet he is not far off JK or Buddy and both of them are playing for a side in the 8.
You could also argue that he's their only avenue to goal and is having all the attack funneled through him.

Not saying he isn't a gun but he's not Kennedy/Franklin/Gunston who have other forwards taking goals off them.

The Age's votes on the weekend game...

GWS v WEST COAST
(James Buckley)

Rory Lobb (GWS) 9
Nic Naitanui (West Coast) 8
Toby Greene (GWS) 8
Luke Shuey (West Coast) 8
Jonathon Patton (GWS) 7

Shuey as 4th best (to be fair equal 2nd in votes, but listed 4th).

Firstly Lobb was brilliant, but Shuey was out of this world.

No disrespect for Lobb and he was good but any other mid in the comp got 38 disposal, they would have been BOG ahead of a 4 goal forward. Shuey was probably the best player on the ground throughout the first 3qt and then went berserk after that. Whats impressive is that he had 23 contest possessions and ran at 84% disposal efficiency.

It's better Melb media underrate our players. Means they are cheaper for us. Recognition only leads to more pain.
