The Age's votes on the weekend game...

GWS v WEST COAST
(James Buckley)

Rory Lobb (GWS) 9
Nic Naitanui (West Coast) 8
Toby Greene (GWS) 8
Luke Shuey (West Coast) 8
Jonathon Patton (GWS) 7

Shuey as 4th best (to be fair equal 2nd in votes, but listed 4th).

Firstly Lobb was brilliant, but Shuey was out of this world.

And WTF, Patton fifth best player? Pffft. Apart from kicking two goals he was very quiet.

Well Dermie was still grinding the ax tonight on Shuey head high frees.

And9 times out of 10 the players say the frees were there.

Such a bias flog.
I like the thing whee he went something along the lines of "well the boys saw it in slow mo...."

Yeah get your micrometer out and measure whether he actually went lower. No? Well he drove forward then? No? Well he did something to get a free kick haha

As if Dunstal or Dermie ever bent down and picked the ball up in congestion. Too busy rearranging their mullets to get down and get a hard ball.

They were even saying players should lift their heads immediately.......even when they fumble?

Bias flogs both of them.

I know! Basically suggested that the guy who goes to get the ball must get up immediately otherwise play on. I mean come on.

Best one was when derm said that griffin was stationary....even though he ran in like a madman.

God I hope we win this week.

I'm sick of the Victorian media bias.
The fact that the umpires allow it to effect their interpretations week to week is as pathetic.
I appreciate what the umps do but they definitely need stronger guidance when it comes to deciding what they blow their whistle for week to week.

Would love for West Coast to absolutely smash Hawthorn and see what the east Coast journalists say - examples could be:

Overrated Mathew Natinui and Marcus Shuey worked hard in the midfield while big boy McEvoy was constantly unfairly manhandled by Hard man Michael Gaff.
Hahaha

I'd hardly think we suffer from Vic bias in regards to umpiring.

While the change in interpretation changes week to week, I think all teams generally suffer/benefit.

You are definitely right that they are influenced by the media though.

Friday will be another close game. Perfect prep for finals.
I wont be surprised if we can't get a free late but Hawthorn get gifted a few center clearances from piss weak frees.
The umps know they only have to get them one more win to secure top spot/top 4.

Even as an Eagles supporter I don't think I could say that the umps are against us.

I think a while ago the Umpires did support us more at Subiaco oval but as the media and opposition coaches started bleating about the perceived bias the umpires have gone the other way - not wanting to look like they preference the home team they choose to give more benefit of the doubt to the visiting team.

Look out guys, Barrett has changed his strategy this week - he's gone for the old reverse mocker.

If: the Eagles went a fair way in killing off the flat-track tag last weekend against GWS ...

Then: ... they can officially remove it on Friday against the ladder leaders. We think they will.

How bout this one on the saints

If...you were told this time last year that Billy Longer would be overlooked for rucking responsibilities at the expense of Jason Holmes ...

then... you wouldn't have believed it.
wait...what?

This comes under the incompetent section. This is the pic they used of priddis:huh::drunk:

That guernsey doesn't exist. So they've used a picture from 2011 (the last year we had the white outlines) but then someone's gone to the effort of shopping out the Hungry Jack's logo, and replace it with the Bankwest one:huh::huh: Why the f**k wouldn't they just have used one of the likely thousands of pics of priddis from the the last 4 seasons??? and not have to photoshop anything???

He finally realised Simpson is a former player of his beloved North Melbourne. Maybe we are getting a bit of the love he keeps for the poster of King Carey he has over his bed?
