Those Games are

  • Freo at Subi
  • Cats at G
  • Lions at Gabba
  • Dogs at Dome
  • Dees at G
  • Swans at ANZ

I think we will find out where we are at after these 6 Games. If we win 5-6 We should be Premiership Favorites and almost be top of the Ladder. Win 4-5 Games not Quite There Yet and Less then 3 we should really worry

Without wantint to be a smart ass our first 6 games were big, so big that some pre season said we would be lucky to be 2 or 3 wins by now...

But yeah should win at least 4 of the next six/seven if we dont very disappoiting

Agree with Opti.

In the lead-up to the season, I thought that our first month to six weeks would indicate whereabouts we are as a side.

WB-StK-Haw all very big clubs/challengers in their own right and we came out of that 2-1 a result we all would have happily taken prior to the season start.

Then we played Melb who seem to gear up against us and treat it like it's their GF and they gave us an incredible shake. We were lucky to escape it.

Then we have gone on to emphatically defeat our arch rivals Essendon (Anzac Day) and Carlton (who are on the up).

As it stands, all of a sudden every week/month is a tough one now because there have been a few sides that have caused a few "surprises", early in the season- Sydney/Freo in particular up near the top of the ladder, something that was not forseen and the Hawks/Crows really struggling at the bottom.

So yes, another tough month or so shapes up for us but that is exactly what we should be hoping for really. There is no use in playing "easy" games. If we want to win silverware this season, we need to be able to beat any side.

I would be very disapointed if we lost to Geelong all the other sides i think we are better then, if we lost to geelong it would mean that not much has changed from last year we would have lost to both stkillda and the cats this year. We must beat the cats and i think we will win the big 6 games if we play consistent football.

If we can beat Geelong we'll be flying.

Well last time with played the Cats when we went to Subi the week before we Thrashed the Cats by 102pts?

I still prescribe to the MM theory that the season is a marathon, and ultimately it is all about numbers, numbers of wins and losses to be more precise.

We are 5-1, better then most expected us to be (including most pessimistic pies supporters).

The next 7 games (including the Roos) are going to be important for us to maintain and secure a spot in the top 4.

I'd be very happy with 5-2 over the next 7 games, would be satisfied with 4-3 but would be disappointed with anything less.

After these 7 games (end of round 13), to be inside the top 4, we will probably need to be 8-5 at very worst, and more likely 9-4.

If we can "come out the other side" sitting 10-3, it will be remarkable IMO, so I will settle for 9-4 with 9 games to go, meaning we would only have to win 5 out of the last 9 to secure top 4.:thumbsu:

I think Freo are gonna be a real danger game becuase we dont play well against them over their and the cats game if we can win our next three games. I am gonna start to talk up or premiership chances.

This is basically what I posted 7 weeks ago, when everyone was saying how unfair our draw was compared to the other big guns. Last year we had what had to be considered an easy draw and lokk where it got us, and that's why we had no real credibilty going into our finals campaign. We can watch other games all we like but the only way we will figure out how to play against the best sides is by getting out on the park with them and taking them on. Last year a tough draw would have found us out with a lack of depth, not so this year. As MM always says you put your best 22 out there every week and injuries are a fact of life not an excuse. Premeirship sides overcome injuries because they have depth, generally down to the 30th player on the list, and now we have that too (at the least) so this year we get the chance to test ourselves and develop stategies to beat the best. Thank you to the AFL, you made a mistake this time and now the Pie era begins.

I agree with much of what you and Opti have to say.

Every 6 week period is going to be huge in any attempt at a flag though.

Every game in fact.
Look at the Saints record last year.

No cigar. I'de rather lose to the top 2 all year and then knock them off in the GF than have an 18-4 H&A record any day.

We have to win 16 to secure a go at the flag.

11 to go anyway you can get em' I say. Don't care who we beat to get there (or don't beat for that matter so long as we are there abouts in each game.)

Go pies.

Well I personally am really looking forward to the Rnd 9 clash with Geelong who should be pretty much back to full strength by then, other than in the ruck, with Joel Corey and Matty Scarlett returning...always love a challenge.

After the Roos game?? AFTER?

I hope the players and coaching staff aren't thinking like this.

The Roos are in some sort of form atm. Can we just concentrate on bringing our A game this Saturday night? Please.

We'll worry about next week after this one.

It's The Brians at the Gabba I worry about and want to win the most, particularly Vossy. (still haven't gotten over 02 and 03).

I think we can beat Cats, Freo is a real threat and Sydney at ANZ stadium should be massive this year with possible 1-2 slugging it out for top spot with Bradshaw in top form.

Basically all the travelling games worry me even though historically we travel well

I think this weeks game is more crucial than people realise. Losing to North can seriously deflate the confidence heading into a big month and a bit.

Lost to North, and 5-1 could so very VERY easily become 5 - 8

Win, and who knows? 10 - 3? 11 - 2? 9 - 4? I'd be happy with all those.
