Starc is key to Australia’s t20i team and hasn’t not played at t20 domestic game since ~2016. Im not sure why the media hasn’t been on his case more.
Green is also someone that needs to play in the BBL, with his $3M IPL, he still needs to prove to MI that he can make the first XI.
And Head would probably do well in the BBL.
I am told by incredible sources that as of 2024/25, possibly as soon as 2023/24 (negotiations re commencing new broadcast deal a year early are currently taking place), there is a high chance of the league being split into two groups.
Group 1: Strikers, Hurricanes, Renegades, Stars
Group 2: Heat, Scorchers, Sixers, Thunder
Play the teams in your group twice, teams in the other group once = 5 home, 5 away and there's your 10 total games per team. Top 2 from each group qualify for finals.
If this happens, let it be known as the Melbourne Stars Clause as I believe CV execs are salty about the green pea hearts starting with a heavy Sydney/Perth schedule for the past three years (and therefore having their finals hopes dashed early each season).
With the season being cut back to 40 games, they are worried this theme of unfairness will only be amplified (crap teams copping both the Scorchers and Sixers twice each, good teams beating up on both the Stars and Canes twice).
CA meanwhile see the potential of two groups as a way to decrease one-sided affairs while also increasing the odds of the most-watched teams (Stars and Gades) playing finals, and in general making the worst teams always, at most, only two spots on the ladder away from finals.
EDIT: This just came across my desk...

Fairly even, in comparison. Had played a similar number of International games to domestic.Interesting point. One of the selectors go to excuse/reason for and against selecting player X is the form or lack of in the domestic competition. I dont know what starcs record is in the BBL, but we know international cricket wise, incumbents in other formats get first dibs on a spot.

Apparently BBL seasons have been overtly branded by edition number for the entire 12 years of its existence (definitely news to me too) so I guess BBL|13 would correspond to 2023/24.BBL/13 Format? 13 as in 2013?
Doubt they're planning on changing the current rule, which states a coin toss is used to rank teams who are equal on points/nrr/wins/h2h.what if both Semi Finals winners had the same regular season record?

If you're keen to watch the best Indian players, you can watch them playing Sri Lanka at this very moment on Fox Cricket.Actually not minding this season but still too long of a season. I know not much can be done about the scheduling but Jesus I’d love to see Indian players involved as well as more Pakistan players too.

Bring it back! although the issue was the better players all played for their IPL sides over others so they were all stacked.remember the Champions League T20?
I think you should be forced to play for your "home" team if there is a conflict.Bring it back! although the issue was the better players all played for their IPL sides over others so they were all stacked.

Colin Munro won titles with Perth Scorchers and the Trent Rockets last year. Which one is his home franchise? This was a great concept, and could work really well if players were forced to play for their home franchise in case of conflict. The old rule was that an IPL franchise would have to pay a player’s home franchise $200,000 to retain a player for the tournament. This didn’t appear to be much of a deterrent…
Even with the stacked IPL sides though, the NSW Blues and Sydney Sixers both managed to win one tournament apiece.

Ah yes, the Scorchers at the Champions League....From memory the Redbacks made the semi finals one year and lost to RCB.
The only problem is the domestic T20 scene is even more of a circuit for ‘mercenaries’ now than it was 5-10 years ago. For some reason I always remember the Scorchers had an entirely different team in the CL than they would BBL, guys like Liam Davis would play CL despite never playing BBL.
If this was club cricket, this would be a weekly issue

Lol....that has to be made up
For a league with a credibility problem surely they're not running with "Qantas party" and "Toyota Party".
