Wow I thought I was the only 1 who rated this guy, most people I speak to dont like him at all, I think he is the Answer to a Problems, a guy we can build our Foward line around. He is back from injury this week, doubt he will be back in the side straight away, but would be good to see him in v melb, there is no rush to play him though, we dont want him to become injury prone.

My Ideal Fwd line set up is:
F: Morton Griffiths Roberts.
HF: Polo Riewoldt Nahas.
Bench: Polak/Astbury
Then guys like Tambling and Post can have a spell ther.

Named in the ressies :thumbsu:

Yeah just heard that on SEN before, good news. Realistically i'd be happy with 1-2 goals, he'll probably only play around 1/2 a game just to get some touch and fitness. Newitt spoke pretty well in the interview, Coburg has turned over 23 players. Going to be a tough year for him.

Dont expect to see the kid until the last few rounds of the year if at all.

He has been crippled with injuries and will be wrapped in cotton wool for most of the season. he will start in Coburg ressies, probably for a month then maybe he will make into the coburg side, but he will most definately not play senior footy any time soon.

Book mark this post if you disagree with it. The guys expecting anything different probably have no idea about footy, development or rehab for a young KPP that size.

Get a grip people

I believe the club has indicated as much, so wont I be disappointed if I dont get to see him on the park until the second half of the season. Given his run of injuries this approach makes sense.

Griffiths wont be around till at least mid season. I would hate it if he was rushed in. Say no to Griffiths untill at least round 11

absolutely agree with this. sure he might be big bodied for a first year player, but he has had a thoroughly interrupted preseason, isn't fully fit as yet and i don't expect him to be ready for the intensity of afl until mid-year, or next season.

just have to call it as i see it, even with our forward absolutely struggling.

I hope this kid comes in soon. He is a legitimate target up forward, with the ability to crash the packs. This is something that we lost last year in Matthew Richardson. I firmly believe that a great forward line needs at least 2 big forwards, and hopefully we have found this in Ben Griffiths and David Astbury. Hopefully they can be the new "Franklin/Roughead". I also think Tambling needs to spend some time up forward as he seems well underdone to be playing in the midfield.

He is listed in the VFL stats as having been in the 22 that played, but wouldn't place too much faith in that. They prob played one short and someone forgot to remove his name or he might have been on bench to be used in an emergency. As much as we are excited by their potential, let's not expect Astbury/Griffiths to be the next Franklin/Roughead. For starters picks 2 & 5 v 19 & 35. They are two promising talls with a lot of work ahead of them to just earn a regular game.

yeah of course, those expectations are very high, i just mean in terms of size, which can ultimately help us to set up a structure. i just hope that these kids actually develop by the year, seeing as our recent draft picks have seemed to struggle. next in line for failure = tyrone vickery!

Tyrone may not be winning to many hit outs. but he is using the ball well, just needs to find more of it.

Play footy with his brother and work at his old school.

I have never seen someone kick the footy as far as he can, he dead set kicked a goal post height from the center circle in his school shoes. I've never seen anything like it...it went 80 meters!!!

Interesting time to give him his first game, he came off injured and thought he'd done his shoulder again in his last VFL game and hasn't played since.

Good luck to the kid! He has all the tools to be a star!

For all I care he doesn't have to kick a goal, he just has to play his role as a first gamer leading up the guts and working out how he plays around Astbury and Riewoldt. :thumbsu:

sheesh i agree. hope there are not to many expectations placed on this kid hes had a badly disrupted season.
the cynic in me sort of says they are playing him for feel good reasons give the supporters something to go and watch.
also i dont think astbury will play much forward this game looking at selections i reckon he will get a go down back.

I told you Ben Nason is going to be a gun, Martin is going to be great, Webberley will impress, well this guy is going to take the football world by storm there has been no and I mean no forward like him ever big hard at it great decision making kicks the ball perfectly and most important of all he kicks straight. Our forward line,
Nahas Astbury Taylor/Morton
Reiwoldt Griffiths Roberts/Tambling
OUR FUTURE SIDE
DEA Thursfield Moore
WEBBERLEY McGuane CONNORS
Deledio Martin NASON
Nahas ASTBURY TAYLOR
Reiwoldt GRIFFITHS ROBERTS
Vickery Jackson Foley
Cotchin Tambling Graham Morton/Edwards/Collins/Rance/Goudis
Without Contin, Hicks, Westhoff, Gilligan, Grimes,
The worst team in the competition HA, the best wait and see 2012
What if we still have cuz Newy and Tucky Oh my gosh?
You can't see but I'm wearing shades, Our futures so bright. Pick 4,27,28 will complement our future list, bring on 2011.

In all seriousness, the kid must've trained the house down to warrant his selection. It will be trying conditions for the big guys tomorrow at AAMI (16 degrees & showers) but hope he wins a few valuable possessions!

yeah but if he comes out and bags 4 or more, while doing all that working out, then you and a hell of alot of other tigerheads will be pulling their puds and lighting up this board like a xmas tree. Lets just say, we are due for a out of left field arrival in the big time from day one. Hope that Ben is it, because from what i have seen over the year, tipping the brains trust have waited and waited until this kid was totally ready, to be injected into a FL that has been crying out for an injection. ;)

I actually hope Griffiths doesn't kick a bag. Would be happy with a few marks and 1 or 2 goals, plus getting through the game uninjured.
