It is sad that we have become so bitter that we don't want him to kick a bag so expectation doesn't get the better of him :(

It is sad isn't it. For someone with dodgy shoulders and yet to play a game the weight of expectation on his shoulders is already huge. If he does kick a bag the stupidity on here about him being the great white hope will be near unbearable

and if he doesnt a certain poster will be telling us how we should have taken bastinac and that he called it preseason :thumbsu:

Really excited this kid has made the team. As RT said, this is a serious glimpse into the future. Hope he rips Port a new arseh*le, or provides enough support for Jack to rip them one.

Seems it's no gift game merely to get supporters excited - it's in Adelaide and likely to be played in unsuitable conditions for talls. I guess the coaching staff just figure he's ready enough and want to get as many games under his belt as possible?

Really looking forward to seeing how he goes, he's a big piece of the puzzle, but no expectations early on.

True. As i read it, it was bought on one week early as Simmo is having his retirement game. Leppa strongly hinted on the radio last week he was to debut againsed the Saints. And we dont know the time frame for other inns, like Browne, who i now suspect will come in againsed the Eagles.

Love to see Graham and Browne go up against Cox and Naitanui Baz, but apparently Naitanui is possibly in line for a week off after having a tough start to the year in only his 2nd season...Cox wasn't able to shelter him much in the first few weeks. Hopefully they keep him in and Browne gets a call up, will be great experience for our blokes going up against those two.

Same here. Its probably why (according to todays Dimma presser) that Vickery is being rested until after the split round. I’m wondering lately if his resting players is just as much psychological as well as physical. I don’t mind a big bod like Hille jumping into Ty, but a same age monster like Nic Nat would do nothing to help his confidence.

Im hanging big time for the Eagles game. Griff, Jacko, Connors maybe Browne and Goo, its an exciting prospect.

We will beat the eagles.

terrible conditions for a tall to debut in. didnt do a lot but perhaps showed a glimpse of why they took him.
once again i will say expectations should not be high on this kid.

and yep based on what i saw of the juniors i liked bastinac over griffiths. im reasonably sure bastinac will be a player, im not so sure about griffiths. if he proves he can play i will certainly acknowledge it.

Claw, you've got it arse-about. You wanted us to take talls at the back end of the draft who had virtually no hope of making it, instead of Nason and Webberley, who look like players, just to make up the numbers of some ideal ratio of talls you have in mind, and a midfielder of the type we can pick up in any draft instead of a potential superstar key forward. Griffiths, Astbury, Nason and Webberley is a much better haul than Bastinac, some other mid and two dud talls we'll never hear of because no one picked them up.

FFS why do you always need to be such a downer, we are all aware that you would have taked Bastinac over Griffiths, we chose Griff and he is a tiger now, so why dwell on it at every opportunity:rolleyes:
It almost seems you would prefer Bastinac to be better so you can be shown to be correct.

in all fairness i can see where your coming from.
i wanted best available at 3 and 19 to me bastinac was best available.it is that simple. it may pan out i was wrong sheesh i fully expect it to as i have often said i didnt see to much of juniors last draft.
basically at 35 44 i wanted talls was happy to take taylor at 51 but wnated talls at 67 and 71 and a mature tall in the psd.

i still maintain we could have taken both webberley and nason in the rookie draft.
and all the love for these two. geez we may get lucky with both of them and they prove to be decent players. i still dont get the hype with nason yet we have him on a pedestal. of the two though performance says different atm i prefer webberley.
one thing i cant argue i suppose for where they were taken 67 71 they look good pick ups.
i still maintain though plenty of smalls with as much talent if not more are regularly over looked every yr.
