FFS why do you always need to be such a downer, we are all aware that you would have taked Bastinac over Griffiths, we chose Griff and he is a tiger now, so why dwell on it at every opportunity:rolleyes:
It almost seems you would prefer Bastinac to be better so you can be shown to be correct.

hey hey hey take it easy. i wasnt the one who bought bastinac up in this thread
only mentioned it because some arseh*le made a snide remark.

Conditions attrocious for a tall KPF playing his first game....but Griff lead well, and with cleaner hands he should have taken a 2-3 marks inside 50 today and could of easily had a couple of early goals. Under the roof next week he should do well.

Our fwd line is gonna look pretty impressive next week, esp if Morton (who had a good game in the twos apparently) gets a run.

Morton/Astbury/Nason

Nahas/Reiwoldt/Griffiths

Rotate Post and maybe Taylor through there (who both also played pretty well in the burgers) and we'll be very tough to match up on.

First time I have seen Griffiths, he's a big lad indeed. Did some good things as well as that mark but really like the way he got into the right positions and looked strong in the contest. Also looks like he enjoys laying a hard tackle as well:thumbsu:

I also liked what I saw. Obviously hard conditions to play in but I thought he went in hard and has a real turn of speed. Took a great grab which is really good to see.

Although not ideal for big forwards, I think it might have been a good introduction into the AFL as the tempo was slowed down by the weather. Next week will be the big test. Perfect conditions, faster game and that means more running.

Can't wait for next week to see his skill and marking in dry conditions.

you can't judge him on today. although he did do some good things.

You can't judge any player's whole career on one particular day, regardless of conditions. But even today, with limited opportunities, in crappy conditions... you could see this kid has what it takes. Opportunity and some good fortune will see him make his mark on this comp.

What's more, he's a Friars boy :D

Yep that what I got out of his performance today. Got in front of his man and positioned himself well. :thumbsu:

did some nice things would of much rather see him play in the dry.

Also every time i saw him in a contest i flinched was anyone else like this.

100%, especially after Salopek and Hitchcock both did shoulders I was just dreading each impact situation he had. Landed on it from a pack a couple of times though and seemed okay.

Was almost happy we didn't risk him after his corky, safe than sorry eh.

the crazy thing is hes 199cm tall and moves so well, if he maintains his speed and builds his body strength he's going to be a monster and very very tough to match up on.

I told you all and I will tell you again that we are on the right path the game plan will work and Griffiths will be great. Rang mt mate Martin who was at the game and he said that Griffiths was a gun and that everybody that was there is really excited so all of you doomdayers get off and let that facts speek for themselves. Remember that we have Connors, Jackson, Foley, Vickery, Taylor and Thursfield to come back in and oh yeah Morton and Post who kicked 4 each for Coburg. But back to Ben this kid will bring us more members and we will have the best side since the early eighties. Richo leaves and Griffo comes in. Bring on 2011, not yet though we have 12 games to make the eight, with Jack Astbury and Griffo we could scare lots of sides. Richmond rules the rest are tools, tool time.

Griff was off for most of the ground injured. Astbury and Griff will not have much impact this year so calm down.

I am not expecting Griffiths or Astbury or Taylor or Roberts to win us games this year but they will have a real impact in years to come, Nason is ahead of scedule. We obviously have alot of supporters who stay at home as I have said before I go to training all of the time sometimes 4 times a week and trust me these guys will be guns.

Will be watching Ben with interest tonight. Obviously conditions will suit him and the Saints may struggle to matchup as they seem to not have many defenders over 193 cm, so if he can take it by the scruff of the neck he might kick a few. Depends of course on midfield ball.

I am not expecting much but I may chuck a fiver on Ben Griffiths for most goals. SOmetimes guys can come on and kick 3-4 in his first couple of games...Schulz did it and there are no real huge goal kickers on the ground so would only need a couple of gifts from other players. He is paying 17 bucks....

You know your teams struggling when a player who has done nothing in the 2s comes into the team! Surely there was someone else who could have come in.....Morton in one instance gave a half arsed attempt at the mark and then stood there as the ball was being contested 15ms away...very sad!!

And all you McGuane supporters....hard at it...yes...costs alot of goals...mmmm..but others options ATM...well I guess he gets a game then!

And it is nice to have Jake King back again isn't it? White Collins Nahas...another 8-9 to be cleaned out again year end this year.

Dustin Martin/Cotch/Jack...wow..The only reasons to watch!

Chances are it's yet another injury.

Done nothing? Last game at VFL he kicked 4 goals, and the game before that he had 30 posessions. He had a shocker but don't make comments about things you've got no idea about.

Happy to stand corrected...wasn't there to witness...wasn't named in the bests...easy 4 perhaps?? People who have been watching him have said he hasn't been giving nearly close to 100%. So if that deserves promotion...guess we better give McMuffin a run too eh?
