Didn't see a thread about it, but how about the performance of McEvoy all season - but particularly yesterday?

He bossed Mummy and Lobb by himself. Two of the best rucks in the comps and he took them to the cleaners. Sure, his hitout effectivenes could have been marginally better, but I'm not one to complain about it.

What a season he's had. Will be pushing Tommy M for B+F.

Hopefully it quashes any rubbish talk of retirement or trading.

This was always coming!!

Stoked for the big man. Plenty more to come I'd say!

Honestly I'd written him of as anything more than a C/B grade second ruck forward.

His ruck work and marking have been really good but the heart he has shown is just tremendous.

Honestly if they took the captaincy off Roughead and gave it to him I wouldn't bat an eyelid; he's been exceptional even in our losses.

Wonder where this form's been; obviously, not a natural in ruck but big, strong, good overhead, real endurance & huge heart. More important, still, a terrific bloke; completely unexpected 'renewal' ... great stuff!

Often ruckmen only really come into their own in their late 20s and it looks like McEvoy is holding true to that.

He's just eeked out a bit of improvement at the margins of every aspect of his game and the result has been fantastic to see.

I'll admit that I only ever saw him as a stop gap who could run all day and take a good mark but who showed poor tap work and few strings to his bow. I was definitely wrong and I think having the ruck role to himself has helped him.

Been a big fan of his from the very start. He always offered great leadership and commitment. He's taken that to the next level and has become a damn good player. Not elite yet but he's on the cusp.

28 year old having a break out year. Who would have imagined?

He is a ruckman, they can take a while to peak. Mummy wasn't a superstar until a similar age.

All for this thread.
Has given his heart and soul to Hawthorn this year in the most challenging one we've had for a while in terms of results and performance.
Rapidly gone from someone I as a fan felt fairly nonchalant about to someone thats nearly my favourite player, simply because he's demonstrated that the club means as much to him as it does to me or any other fan.
That sort of passion is what makes sport the greatest thing in the world.
The fact that he's also putting in next level, career best performances is just the icing on the cake.
Cheers to you Big Boy you absolute ******* legend, you've sure as hell proved me wrong and I'm so glad we have you at the Hawks.

Had an absolute stellar month early (and was one of our only positives in the early period) and absolutely smashed it against GWS. Chuffed with his year to date, is almost a lock for top 3 in the B&F.

One of the best runners at our club I think the fact that Cegs is injured and other Ruck/fwds haven't stepped up plays into his hands as he can ruck all day. Has been great this year!

I wonder if he's flourished because he's been our solo specialist ruck for the season:
- not having to share ruck duties 50-50 during matches;
- not being rotated in and out of the team and worrying about being selected;
- having the responsibility solely on his shoulders

Fingers crossed he plays this well when ceglar returns.

Anyway, it couldn't have happened to a better bloke

Ouch
