God almighty. Once again, we have fell for bombers inspirational bullshi* talks. Remember when he said that there would be some big changes at the club? i havnt seen jackshi*! its the same old deplorable geelong. same style, same stupid play, unbelievably IDIOTIC play. and Bomber also said, that he wouldnt care if he got fired, now what does that say about the whole point of him being there. YOU want big changes, bomber should quit, kick out Gardiner, Playfair, Byrnes and Blake, and bring in Tom Hawkins, i dont care if his young, his our only hope, and you all know it!

Blake is allright needs to get better around the ground.
Hawkins has done nothing in the 2nds yet so to play AFL he would get killed.
Mark needs to play Blackjack,Varcoe and Djurrkura at all times, get some pace into the side.

You're correct, Hawkins has done nothing, but Varcoe and Djerrkura haven't done much more. Nevertheless all three should get a taste before long.

The following players have to get a good solid run in the seniors:

Tenace, Prismall, Selwood, Nathan Ablett. Young guys with not much experience but actual desperation and enthusiasm. Pretty sure you'd add Varcoe and Djerrkura before long.

I actually really disagree with this comment. I've noticed a lot of people bagging Blake lately and I don't understand why.

I think he has improved a heap since 2 years ago. He is a good ruckman IMO, he very often gets the tap to a team mate. His mobility around the ground has improved and he is even starting to not totally freak when he has to kick the ball. I wouldn't go around saying he should be our main ruckman or anything but I do think it is very helpful having him in the side to free up Otto and Kingy.

Everything is spot on except the point about Tom Hawkins...some people really have an obsession over him.

I actually really disagree with this comment. I've noticed a lot of people bagging Blake lately and I don't understand why.

Fair enough Jess, my complaints are centred on two things:

1. Lack of football skills, either marking or kicking.
2. Lack of physicality.

Minson was pushing him around yesterday like he wasn't there. Johnson's first goal should have been touched on the line but Blake was shunted aside far too easily. And he dropped a sitter of a mark in the first quarter that directly led to a goal. I know he's still developing but to me it was woefully obvious yesterday that he isn't up to it. Not yet anyway.

Why kick out Playfair, hasn't had a game this year. If we get rid of all those you say, they are still contracted, where do we put them.

Unfortunately professional sports doesn't have someone like you in charge, otherwise we'd be in a worse off predicament.

i know you said you were impressed with tenance's disposal but yesterday it was ordinary. maybe its a confidence thing and he needs more meaningful game time.

Agree wholeheartedly. We need pace and class. Whilst Tenace's disposal is still in progress, the othe three have sublime skills.

Absolutely. Both made some mistakes. But both did some good things as well. I just think that it's worth investing more time in them at senior level. Especially with some of the guys that have been given a lot more chances.

i agree with whoeva it was that sed blakeys not that bad!! cant remember who it was sorry!! i saw in the paper that he had 23 hitouts for the game and noone else on the ground had more then 16. i no hitouts dont mean everything but i wouldnt say we were smashed in the clearances by any means!! the kid needs more games under his belt before we dismiss him as being not good..give the kid a chance coz i rekon he is going to progress into a gd tap ruckman

No one is 'whingeing' that we lost as such. Get that into your head. The point is we are still making the exact same mistakes and still playing the exact same stupid game plan that has led to our side going backwards over the past two to three years.

I'm sure if we had come out and played sensible, simple, direct and accountable footy for four quarters, and still gone down, then there'd be next to no complaints.

We've been promised a new game plan. And we didn't see it. It's got nothing to do with the result. See if you can comprehend it this time.

Exactly.
Before the game I checked to see if it really mattered winning round 1. I found that only 3 teams that won in round 1 went on to make the finals last year. They were West Coast, who dominated all year, the Dogs, who were against Richmond, and Adelaide, who also dominated all year.

Don't worry about a round one loss. Freo and Adelaide lost at home to weaker opponents by a bigger margin than us so we're not the only ones.

Stats in The Age said he had 21 hitouts, but only 33% were effective, compared to 45-55% for all the other ruckmen listed. Not so flash.

If you could not see the attempted game plan change you are as stupid as your posts sound. You cannot expect to perfect your "new" game plan in week 1 of the AFL season against a potential Top 4 side. Get that through your head!
